女王走下台阶时，约翰斯顿轻轻扶了女王的左臂。事后，约翰斯顿对媒体澄清说，他清楚英国王室“无碰触”的礼仪规范，但因为台阶上铺设的红毯比较滑，为避免女王不慎摔倒，才决定忽略礼仪上的一些小节。

Canada's Governor General David Johnston has said a "slippy" carpet was to blame for an apparent breach of royal etiquette with the Queen. 

He was seen to be lightly touching the Queen's elbow as she descended some steps, during an event in London to mark Canada's 150th birthday.

Canada's Governor General helped Britain's Queen Elizabeth down some stairs and ended up raising eyebrows, after touching the monarch's elbow, in defiance of royal protocol.

"I'm certainly conscious of the protocol," David Johnston told CNN partner CBC News following the visit to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Canadian Confederation. "I was just anxious to be sure there was no stumbling on the steps."

各路媒体的“指责”让加拿大广播公司（CBC）忍不住出来“打脸”了~

CBC：总督违反王室礼仪扶女王那是为了避免她摔倒！

除了解释原因，CBC还称，根据英国王室的官方网站，觐见女王或其他王室成员并无任何强制性的行为准则。不过比较常见的就是握握手，其他形式的接触还真是少见。

While the royal website says there are no "obligatory codes of behaviour when meeting the Queen," there are observed "traditional forms" of greeting. 

Members of the Royal Family have been known to give handshakes, but other forms of touching have been rare.

据了解，英国王室有一系列复杂的礼仪规范。美国前“第一夫人”米歇尔、澳大利亚前总理基廷等也曾因与王室成员发生“不当身体接触”而被媒体“挑刺”。

说了这么多，到底见女王有啥基本礼仪呢？怎样做才能在女王面前有礼有节又不失风度呢？

What to wear?
见女王穿什么？

穿着正式庄重是一般性建议，但是，并不意味着需要为此破费，选择过于昂贵的衣服。正如《卫报》时尚作家Jess Cartner-Morley收到的来自白金汉宫的邀请卡上所写：日常裙装或是普通西服即可，不一定需要配戴帽子或是手套。

Royal Etiquette's dress code is generally conservative though it is acceptable for women to sport little sleeveless dresses. But members of the Royal Family do not wish anyone to be put to unnecessary expense by buying special clothes, hats or gloves.

Jess Cartner-Morley, the Guardian's fashion editor, wrote in her article named “What shall I wear to meet the Queen?”, that when she went back to first principles and studied the small print, it said “the dress code is recommended as day dress/lounge suit. However, this is for guidance only and is not intended to preclude other smart dress. Hats and gloves are not required.”

具体而言，小伙伴可以参考2008年法国前第一夫人布吕尼访英觐见女王时的穿着。

不论是布吕尼在初见女王时的高领灰色裙装，配同色帽子、黑色手袋与手套，还是在国宴上的紫色晚礼服都受到了英国媒体的肯定，被称赞“别致而简朴”。

简而言之，只要别像下图中的某人一样裹床单出现，很多大方得体的衣装都是可以选择哒！

How to behave?
举止如何得体？

不要主动和女王握手、行亲吻礼、甚至不要在下台阶或下车时搀扶女王……总之，不要与女王有任何身体接触就对了，除非女王主动伸出手来，否则热爱皇室的英国人民是不会放过你的！

Whatever you do, don't touch the Queen! Do not offer a handshake. Royal Etiquette applies to not touching the queen or any member of the royal family. Wait for the queen to offer her hand first. And, suggests Britain's Guardian newspaper, "Try to refrain from vigorously pumping the royal arm; a brief touch is preferred."

Also, no hugs, no kiss on the cheek, no touching the shoulder; It is not socially acceptable to even take her elbow to direct her. And even do not bow or curtsy if you are not British.
