Boris Johnson and his girlfriend Carrie Symonds moved into Downing Street on last Monday, the new UK prime minister's spokeswoman said.

The move makes Johnson the first prime minister in living memory to live with an unmarried partner in Number 10.

The spokeswoman said: "In relation to her living at No 10 there won't be any additional cost to the taxpayer."
