Perhaps even more impressive than the stats- the people behind the brand. Nio (their Chinese name is ‘Weilai’) has opened offices with top auto industry execs in San Jose, Munich, London, Shanghai. They also boast some huge names on their list of investors from the Chinese tech world.
The investors personalized EP9's come with owners names on them:
YiChe founder Li Bin
Jingdong founder Liu Qiangdong
Autohome Founder Li Xiang
Tencent founder Pony Ma
The 6 major Nio investors were each given their own personal EP9, several of which are on display at the Shanghai Auto Show this weekend.
Their story is very similar to Tesla’s: major tech players looking to innovate and disrupt. Although they have made the world’s fastest fully electric car, they hope sometime in the near future it will be the fastest vehicle in the world period.
