Xujiahui is undoubtedly one of the hottest places in Shanghai at the beginning of 2023.


     



      

It has undergone tremendous changes in the past two decades.



Since the establishment of the commercial area in 2005, Xujiahui has quickly ascended to become one of the central hubs in Shanghai. 

With a series of major renovations and upgrades, its status has been firmly solidified.

Located in the center of the Xujiahui commercial area, the Pacific Digital Plaza (Taipingyang) will be revitalized and upgraded in 2023.

New Spots to Visit




Zikawei Library


The Zikawei Library must be the hottest library in Shanghai right now.


The space is designed by the renowned British architect David Chipperfield.


The library is divided into four floors, with a total area of 18,650 m² and a collection of over 80,000 books. The outdoor balcony is the best photo-taking spot. Many visitors are attracted to take photos here with the Zikawei Church.



Currently, an appointment is required to enter the library.

foo'mart


Located on the first and B1 floor of the Zikawei Library, foo'mart is another must-visit spot.


Stepping inside, you'll firstly notice the flagship store of Yongpu Coffee, which offers coffee with great price.


On the B1 floor, you'll find a retail space and an art workshop.


Currently, two exhibitions are being held on the B1 floor.

PICA PICA


At the entrance of the Zikawei Library, there's a cute ice cream shop called PICA PICA.


The ice cream in the shop comes in two types of cones and cups, featuring milk and coffee flavors.

TRUFFE BOULANGERIE by B&C


Recently, B&C launched a French high-end bakery brand called "TRUFFE BOULANGERIE by B&C".



TRUFFE BOULANGERIE opens its first shop in Shanghai in the Grand Gateway 66.


As a brand jointly created by B&C and the French hall-level butter brand ÉCHIRÉ, you can buy the ÉCHIRÉ limited baking series here. Cherry Napoleon is highly recommended.

Shinsaibaishi Gram


Shinsaibashi Gram, known as the best souffle in Japan, is a must-visit food shop in Osaka for many people.

The signature drink is Ginger Latte. The top layer of it is a fondant made of pumpkin powder and fine milk foam.

Luneurs (One ITC)

At Luneurs (One ITC), not only can you enjoy their signature ice cream and bread, but also indulge in a multi-course brunch.

Historical Landmarks




Zikawei Church

The Zikawei Church started the construction in 1904. The building has a total area of approximately 6,670 m² and can accommodate more than 3,000 people.


This is the largest Catholic church in Shanghai.



Because of its exquisite and Gothic decoration, the Zikawei Church is regarded as one of the most beautiful churches in China.

Hengshan Fang


Hengshan Fang gathers restaurants, cafes, fashion shops and bookstore together.


The Mix Place, a three-story villa, serves as both a bookstore and an exhibition salon, known as the "spiritual backyard of urbanites."

You can find many good restaurants in Hengshan Fang, including the hish-end high-end Cantonese restaurant Mingyan, the top-notch kaiseki restaurant YUZURU, and the Spanish restaurant ALBALUZ.

Xujiahui Park


Xujiahui Park is hidden in the city center.


In the unremarkable park, there are many spots, including the aerial walkway, Swan Lake, and children's playground.


The nearby Pathe Villa used to be a recording studio for top female celebrities. The song "Shanghai Night" spread from here.

Guangqi Park


Guangqi Park, originally named Nandan Park, was renamed to commemorate the famous scientist Xu Guangqi in the Ming dynasty.


The entire history of Xujiahui is closely related to Xu Guangqi.


If you are interested in history, you can visit the Xu Guangqi Memorial Hall inside the park.

Shanghai Meteorological Museum


Shanghai Meteorological Museum is one of the most difficult museums to make a reservation in Shanghai.
