Shanghai will open 3 new country parks by October

The city's government has been working really hard of late, extending the opening hours of the city's parks and building new running tracks around Shanghai. We love it, and they know it. So here's more good news for everyone who enjoys a little sunshine and getting outdoors.
Old factories in Shanghai's suburban districts are making way for country parks and quality agricultural land. Three new country parks, Pujiang country park in Minhang district, Jiabei country park in Jiading district and Guangfulin country park in Songjiang district, are set to be completed in July, September and October respectively. Fingers crossed for more fresh air and, hopefully, bluer skies.
At 14 square kilometres, Jiabei country park will be the largest park in the city's northwest. It will feature three square kilometres of paddy fields, a bamboo forest, a lavender garden, a fruit garden and a 6km-long pedestrian path with 17 sightseeing bridges along a 20km-long waterway.
The 15 square-kilometre Pujiang country park will house a forest with basketball courts and concert halls amongst the trees, while Guangfulin country park will be home to various museums, exhibition halls and farmland.
This is just the tip of the iceberg: The Shanghai Planning Land and Resources Administration has plans for a further 20 suburban country parks covering a total of 130 square kilometres. We say, keep them coming!
