Holidays, mooncakes and hairy crabs – there's a lot that tourists can spend in China during Golden Week, and according to China National Tourism Administration, spending is exactly what people have been doing.
Reported by SHINE, tourism revenue was up more than 10 percent compared to last year, amounting to around 190.5 billion RMB (96.5 on Sunday and 94 on Monday respectively) over the first two days of the holiday.
The majority of this cash was spent on food, cultural tourism, rural tourism and traditional customs, while theme parks, museums and popular 'leisure streets' saw a considerable growth in visitors – which is understandable bearing in mind that around 650 million people are said to be travelling domestically this year.
