What does perfection look like? Let’s find out.

Over the summer Patrón sent out a call to those who strive for nothing but impeccable cocktails, asking all pristine, precision-driven bartenders to put forth their names and drinks in pursuit of one sought-after title for the meticulous: Patrón Perfectionist.

When submitting their perfect cocktails, bartenders were told to focus on a few key things, alongside making Patrón the hero in the glass: visual appeal and a significant emphasis on aesthetics, the story and inspiration behind the drink’s creation, and delivering an engaging performance. 

Now, the six Greater China competitors have been chosen, and it’s time for the penultimate event before the final in Mexico come winter. OnWednesday, October 24, the competition will unfold at The Nest in Shanghai, where each will present their version of the perfect Patron cocktail. Judges will be looking at appearance, originality, service, and of course, flavour – with Patrón being the obvious centrepiece of the drink. 

The competition will see a visit from the 2017 global winner Li Tong from Lotus Lounge in Guangzhou, who took last year’s competition with her Dancing Bees cocktail featuring Patrón Reposado, yellow chartreuse, chamomile-yuzu shrub, passionfruit syrup, lime juice and soda water. Like Tong, this year’s Greater China winner will get to join the other Perfectionists from around the globe at the Worldwide Final in Mexico in early 2019.  

Tong will serve as a judge alongside judges Nick Cox (head of Patrón AMEA and NAPAC regions) and Theo Watt (Founder of Thirsty Work Productions), with Bacardi senior brand ambassador Peter Hong as host.
