Jump into Spring – With a Tussock Deal
One CHEERS brand takes your palate on a planet-wide journey like no other, the Tussock Jumper series, a passport to wines from five continents, whether it be Australian Shiraz or South African Pinotage or Argentine Malbec. As that slogan goes, “Jump from wine to wine around the world.”
To celebrate CHEERS tenth anniversary this month, there will not only be some excellent Tussock Jumper deals, but also hourly free-flow features for CHEERS’ birthday party on April 10.

The wine series—with labels that feature a Noah’s ark of animal ambassadors sporting “jumpers” aka sweatshirts — tends to go for iconic expressions of a given grape, such as the vegetal crispness of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc or the soft round ripe fruit of that Argentine Malbec. It’s a good starting point for exploring how that same grape variety smells and tastes in wines made in different parts of the world.

The first CHEERS’ birthday deal, through April 4, includes two wines: the first is the “signature” grape of California -- Zinfandel -- from California, represented by a buffalo. The fruit hails from Lodi, an area near Napa Valley with over 100 grape varieties, and the vibrant red fruit and touch of spice found in this wine should pair well with a steak or barbecue.
(Fun fact: Zinfandel first appeared in the United States not in California, where it rose to fame, but in New York State -- nearly 200 years ago.)

The second part of the deal is a Monastrell from Jumilla in Spain, the fruit coming from organic vineyards -- the vines are on average 25 years old. This full-bodied Monastrell – known as Mourvedre in France – has dark berry and some peppery character. These two wines should be fun to drink side by side.

And if you are lucky on April 10, you will get some for free! There will also be hard seltzer cocktails, snacks, music and a birthday cake. More details on the party in the next newsletter.
