New Beers at CHEERS. Plus, International Sauvignon Blanc Day
////////////////////////////////////////
CHEERS is adding dozens of new wines and beers to the portfolio these days, so expect plenty of updates. But first, May 7 is International Sauvignon Blanc Day. And given the warmer weather, this is a nice time to share a few chilled bottles outdoors with friends.

Sauvignon Blanc Day
CHEERS has several Sauvignon Blanc options, including Chamanto from Chile for RMB50 and Tussock Jumper from New Zealand for RMB155.

It also has newcomer Anthony Joseph Vidal 2020 from New Zealand’s Marlborough, one of the world’s top Sauvignon Blanc regions. The Vidal operation dates to 1905 and is named for its founder, an adventurous Spanish man who migrated to Australia in 1888 with almost no money and worked in wine with his uncle before starting his own project.
This one has the typical herbal aroma of a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and is loaded with flavor. While the label cites “vibrant tropical fruit flavors”—think passionfruit—I picked up green apple, too. A fresh zippy wine but full-bodied enough to drink on its own without food.

Mango Beer
Still on the topic of fruits tropical, CHEERS has added a mango beer to its lineup of options from Swiss brewers Appenzeller. If you enjoyed the refreshingly tangy passion fruit beer, give your taste buds a try of the HOI Mango.
This beer smells like it sounds, although the body is drier, milder and more subtle than might be expected. Best to try HOI Mango side-by-side with the passion fruit beer. And at 2.5% alcohol, this is a good choice for those seeking refreshment without getting tipsy.

Root Beer
Another new Appenzeller option is a different kind of beer: root beer. This one pours light red and is less intense and effervescent than some well-known U.S. root beers.
Expect a touch of sweetness, delicate red fruit flavors, a slight herbal character and a touch of bitterness at the finish. Like the mango beer, it’s a nice low-alcohol option, weighing in at 2.4%.

Hot & Spicy
There are plenty of more products in the CHEERS pipeline. You can also enjoy CHEERS beverages at The Beijinger’s Hot & Spicy Festival on May 15 and May 16 at InStreet, part of Phoenix Galleria Mall in Beijing. (Sign up to the festival today.)
CHEERS will not only have a booth at the festival but also has a shop on InStreet for those who want to peruse a wider selection.
