EAT: Demolition Party at Tube Station, Aperitivo at Ponte

Robynne T. theBeijinger 2019-05-29

EAT: Your bite-sized guide to the best eats to be had in Beijing this week.

Tube Station Weigongcun Demolition Party

Sad news over at Tube Station's decade-old Weigongcun branch, who have been told that the entire street will soon be demolished for development. In order to say farewell to the trusted branch, they've organized a final blowout party in cahoots with street artist ROBBBB who has been given a free run of the space to create his signature city in ruins vibe. The exhibition runs Dec 14-16, with the opening party billed for Friday, 7pm, which will include cheap drinks and free-flow pizza. Yes please!

Arrow Factory x Yeyo Yogurt

Order any of Arrow Factory's vegan dishes with Yeyo coconut yogurt – including vegan nachos, baked potato with vegan sour cream, "The Colonel Turns in His Grave Cauliflower Wings", and the "Mesoamazing Mexican Power Bowl" – and receive a Yeyo voucher for free delivery on 4-pack orders or 10 percent off on their subscriptions. On the flip side, order anything from Yeyo and receive a RMB 20 Arrow Factory voucher to be used on any Arrow Factory x Yeyo dishes when you spend over RMB 100.

Arrow Factory Roast Beef Sunday Lunch

Also at Arrow Factory (and significantly less vegan...) they have just launched a weekly roast beef Sunday lunch, available on Sunday from noon-3pm. For RMB 128 per person, you get a set including Australian roast beef with roast potatoes, roast parsnips, Brussels sprouts, homemade Yorkshire pudding, horseradish, and gravy. We stopped by to check it out last weekend and our group of Brits had good things to say about the beef, the roasties, and, in particular, the fact that they are more than happy to give you extra gravy. Add a glass of beer, house wine or prosecco for RMB 30 and round off the meal with any dessert for RMB 30. Be sure to book in advance, as they need at least eight bookings to go ahead with the roast.

Weekly Specials at Pachapapi

After introducing a set lunch just a few weeks ago, Pachapapi is back with a host of new weekly dining specials. For example, on Mondays get 50 percent off Peruvian dishes such as anticuchos, patita, ajì de gallina, cau cau, and causa de atún; on Tuesdays get 50 percent off sushi; and on Wednesdays get a free glass of sparkling wine with all ceviche's and tiraditos. There is also live music on Friday and Saturday nights.

Ponte Aperitivo

If you need a reason to go check out the new fine dining venue from the team behind Annie's, Ponte, then make it their exceptionally reasonably priced new aperitivo deal. Every Friday and Saturday, from 6-8pm, they are offering free-flow wine and draft beer accompanied by a selection of cold cuts, cheese, olives, and bread for just RMB 89. Check out this post for more information.
