Great Leap’s Left Hand Brewing Collab
Last weekend (May 10), Great Leap Brewing launched two new beers in collaboration with none other than 11-time World Beer Cup winner Left Hand Brewing Company (lefthandbrewing.com). One of those beers is the 5.8 percent Hide Until Tuesday Nitro Red Stout made with raspberries and Ethiopian espresso coffee beans. In Great Leap's words, the "subtle tartness of the raspberry is quickly balanced by both the coffee and smooth nitro mouthfeel, resulting in a complex yet easy-drinking beer."
Their other collaborative brew is the 5 percent Tiger Crown Admiral India Pale Lager, "a pleasantly melon-like, yet earthy herbal and piney aroma and goes down extremely smooth."

Starting this
Thursday, Jing-A teams up with veteran Thai restaurant Pak Pak, opening a
beer garden at the latter's CBD location (which we also highlighted in
our EAT column earlier this week). Six Jing-A beers will be on tap, and
on the debut day, the first keg (amounting to 50 beers) will be free,
along with a buffet of Thai appetizers and snacks from 5-7pm. Happy hour
will also run until 11pm, during which you can enjoy RMB 10 off all
Jing-A beers.
The beer garden will remain open throughout the
summer with a daily happy hour from 4-7pm plus a post-dinner happy hour
from 9-11pm. A special deal on Pak Pak's shared appetizer platter
(pictured above) plus any two Jing-A beers will run for RMB 145 during
the beer garden's residency.

Speaking of Slow Boat, the Sanlitun south brewers are also launching their new Widowmaker Brux Brut IPA. It features both old fashioned Belgian Bruxellensis Trois yeast and cutting-edge cryo loral hops for "earthy and fruity aromas," making for an IPA that's "dry as can be, boasting a complex yeast profile and deep hop flavor." What's more: it boasts a hefty 7.2 percent ABV, selling for RMB 60 a pop (or RMB 50 during their daily 4-7pm happy hour).
The third Thursday
of the month is fast approaching and that can only mean one thing: your
chance to win a keg of beer using nothing but the power of your mind.
Aside from that enticing boozy bounty each third Thursday, Home Plate's
