Jing-A reveals massive new CBD venue among other things
First thing's first: Jing-A is absolutely destroying it this week. Off the bat, this Saturday will see the launch of their new music-related gig series Bie Nao, featuring a new beer release and gig from Beijing old school noisemakers SUBS; then they simultaneously blew beery minds and had half of Beijing recoil with news of their durian "Stinky Feet" Baltic porter to be released on Friday, then... then, they dropped the announcement that they have snatched up what was going to be Stone Brewing's inaugural, huge, and quite frankly, beautiful Beijing space in CBD (see the rendering pictured above).
Via a WeChat post sent out yesterday, the Jing-A team detailed how the new spot at Guanghua Lu's Kerry Center "will be double the size of our existing locations in Xingfucun and Longfusi. We’ll be installing more taps than ever before, split between two bars, and firing up a grill for a new food menu inspired by modern American gastropubs. Best of all, there’ll be plenty of outdoor seating with direct “crotch shot” views of the Big Pants – Beijing’s landmark CCTV building!" While construction is already in progress, it won't be complete for another few months. Watch this space for updates. In other beer news, following a two-day stint at Jing-A Xingfucun a couple of weeks back, it's now Zhujingban's turn to host Wuhan's preeminent brewery, No. 18. From now until July 31, you can drop by the Andingmen taproom to sample a rotating cast of over 20 different beers on tap as well as "a selection of special edition surprise beers" from one of the longest-running breweries on the mainland.
On Thursday, head to La Social from 9pm onwards where they'll be hosting a party to celebrate the launch of their new range of summer cocktails made in collaboration with their Nali Patio neighbors, Peddlers Gin. For the occasion, the bar will be manned by master mixologist Cosmo, who will be shaking up a one-night-only pop-up menu including La Paz Elevator cocktails for RMB 55/RMB 100 for two (or shots for RMB 40) made from Peddlers gin, cucumber and apple juice, and elderflower syrup, and Peddlers gin and tonics with a sprig of Sichuan peppercorns (RMB 68). Meanwhile, the new menu includes new additions such as the frozen Margarita Rosa, a creamy Carahee Jiu (pictured above), and the aforementioned La Paz Elevator. More on those here.
