During construction, parts of surrounding areas will be enclosed with fences to avoid visitors from interrupting with construction workers. The area will be reopened on the afternoon of Jul 2, but the specific reopening time is subject to change.
Meanwhile, several major roads surrounding the Tiananmen area will be closed at various intervals for the weekend of Jun 12-13 for a military drill. If you take public transit through that area, buses will be provided with detours.
The central area of Beijing Olympic Park is temporarily closed
The closure covers a wide range of areas, extending from Beichen East Road in the east to Aoyuan No.3 Security Checkpoint in the south, from Beichen West Road in the west to National Stadium in the north.
On another note, restrictions will be eased for personnel who hold activity-related identifications. The ban is only imposed on the central area of the park, and the rest of the area will remain open to the public.

It is still not clear when the place will be reopened and we can only hope it won’t be too long for us to jump back in the pool again!
