Beijing is a happening city! Don't miss a thing with our weekend roundup of the latest news.

Return of the Wheel: After a decade of sitting unused, the famous Longtan Ferris Wheel, a ride that holds a special place in the hearts of Beijing nostalgists, has reopened at last. The new wheel’s first test ride took place this week, Jun 21. According to Beijing Daily, park authorities will continue to renovate the surrounding park in accordance with public feedback.

Zoobabes, welcome to the world: The Beijing Zoo welcomed a few 小可爱 xiǎo kě'ài little cuties this week, newborn baby zebras, ring-tailed lemurs, and black muntjacs, a type of deer-like creature native to south-eastern China. Go check them out while they’re still this adorable!

Anti-harassment signs: Fed up dealing with regular reports of harassment on Beijing’s public transit, the city’s Subway is hanging up signs to remind riders what they shouldn’t have to remind them of: Don’t sexually harass people! The signs are part of a campaign by the local branch of All-Women’s China Federation, a government agency that advocates for women’s rights. In addition to slogans, the signs depict men yelling at women or attempting to touch their rear ends. Again, a sign shouldn’t have to tell you, but that’s not okay! But we’re glad that the issue is brought into the public eye.

Stuck in Shenzhen: As Guangdong Province continues to wage its battle against COVID, the city of Shenzhen has ceased direct flights to Beijing, Reuters reports.
