Explore These Pet-Friendly Malls in Beijing

Irene Li theBeijinger 2024-01-07

Who says retail therapy and puppy love can't intertwine? We understand that your four-legged friend is as much a part of your family as anyone else. That's why we've scoured Beijing to find pet-friendly shopping destinations, sparing you from having to leave your pup at home or elsewhere while you shop.

Solana

One fine day, we decided to take our pug for a stroll at a pet-friendly mall and oh, what a pleasant surprise Solana was, especially when bathed in the evening lights. Perched right next to Chaoyang Park, the locale offers an assortment of dining options, from tangy and spicy Yunnan delicacies to Western favorites at places like QMEX, Kitty & Daniels, BRBR Syrian Restaurants, and the Woods.

Our pug had a blast at Solana!

After treating your taste buds, why not treat your pup to a leisurely walk alongside the stunning Liangma River skyline? When you've had enough of walking (we get it, Solana is massive), the water fountain square in the center serves as a perfect resting spot. It's not uncommon to find other dog owners here, making it a great place for your pup to socialize.

Dog showdown, anyone?

When the weather gets warmer, many of the restaurants offer open terraces where you can dine with your puppy snuggled in your arms. And the best part? You can actually bring your pups inside the shopping center - making for a truly fun shopping experience.

The Box

The Box is, without a doubt, a gem of a place. Not only does it offer a fresh, eclectic mix of pop-up stores that are bound to surprise you every visit, but it's also one of the most welcoming places for pets in Beijing. The Marsmart Pet supermarket, adorned in vibrant hues of orange, gives you the feeling of stepping into a world where pets are kings and queens. Adjacent to the pet store, there's a lawn that often hosts pet-themed birthday parties, dog meetups (yes, a dachshund meetup), and pet-friendly camping activities.

You might even stumble upon doggy parties at the box

As you meander through the first floor of the mall, you'll come across an array of dog lovers, with their furry companions nestled comfortably in shopping carts. Don't be surprised if you spot breeds like Samoyed, Shiba, and even the larger ones like giant poodles. They're sure to draw attention and photos!

You'll see all sorts of breeds at the box, like these two massive poodles

Dongba Wanda Plaza

Perhaps you've been to numerous Wanda Plazas throughout Beijing. However, this particular Wanda Plaza nestled in the Dongba region stands out for its pet-friendly environment. It's not just a shopping destination, but a haven designed with your pet's comfort in mind. There's even an elevator exclusively for your furry friends and special zones dedicated to their activities.

In the plaza's outdoor area, your beloved pet can lounge on designated pet seats, with specially designed cup slots for their drinks. Need to store your pet's belongings while you shop? Holiland has got you covered with a pet storage service. If your pet loves the camera's attention, don't miss the pet store specializing in pet photoshoots. Just imagine your adorable furball striking a pose!

DT 51

As we continue our pet-friendly retail journey, DT 51 certainly ranks high on our list of favorites. This mall not only welcomes your pets but also offers pet strollers for a convenient shopping experience. They even provide diapers for your puppy, ensuring a fuss-free visit.

The pet stroller isn't just for ground-floor meandering. Feel free to take it on the escalator to explore the different levels of the mall with your pet. And when it comes to dining with your canine companion, you'll be spoilt for choice. Three top-tier restaurants, namely 杏花堂 Xìng Huātáng, 湘上湘 Xiāng Shàng Xiāng, and 山葵家 Shānkuí Jiā, open their doors to dogs, allowing you to share a mealtime experience with your furry friend.
