Beloved Party Bolt-Hole The Mansion To Close in August

Seriously, can we put a pause on all the closures that are sweeping Shanghai's F&B scene of late? Places are dropping like flies and we don't like it.

The latest to fall under the axe is The Mansion, an underground club/hostel/urban beach/pool/rave den/party house in an actual mansion way out in Hongqiao.
In a recent WeChat post, The Mansion co-founder Rainbow Gao confirmed that the lease for the palatial Hongqiao property will end in August, to be renewed on a monthly basis until the landlord has found a new tenant. Let's hope the new inhabitants have a penchant for wall murals!
The post goes on to describe The Mansion's journey from a free-spirited social experiment amongst friends and other like-minded members of the Shanghai party set, to a full-blown nightlife staple with "hundreds of people making noise on the street every weekend." Apparently, the previously supportive neighbors had also grown weary of the various rave noises eminating from the villa.
Despite shutting up shop in Hongqiao, The Mansion crew promises that they'll be back with a new party concept in the future, and are currently working on music festival projects and even a 'Mansion Magazine.'

Honestly, we're surprised this place managed to survive as long as it did given the nightlife crackdowns that have been going on in Shanghai of late. Fingers crossed for The Mansion 2.0 in future.
