Jiangsu Protesters March to Apple Store, Go to Fake One

Unhappy with an international court's ruling on the South China Sea last week, protesters across China have begun descending upon local chains of American brand name stores and calling for a boycott of their goods.

Just this past weekend, demonstrators gathered outside a KFC in Hebei demanding diners to boycott the restaurant while calling for the boycott of American, Japanese, Korean and Philippine products. Similar protests against the fried chicken fast food chain have sprung up in at least a dozen cities around China.
Meanwhile, a man was attacked for wearing Nike shoes in Dalian after the court ruled in favor of the Philippines.

The latest in these nationalist, anti-American protests took place in Suining county, Jiangsu last night when dozens gathered outside a store that sold Apple products. The only problem? The store they chose to picket was actually a fake Apple Store.

The owner of the fake shop, Zhu Yawei, said that a few of demonstrators loudly burst into the store and caused a scene for around 10 minutes with people watching outside before leaving. Around 300 meters away was a KFC, where approximately 3,000 protesters were gathered. One protester could be heard shouting "I love China!"

State media have denounced the recent spate of nationalist protests, with the People's Daily calling for "rational patriotism" in a recent editorial.
