Where on earth were the parents? This is the first question that comes to mind when we come across footage of children in dangerous and potentially life-ending situations.

A video that emerged online this week forced us to once again ask this question, capturing the moment a toddler ducks to avoid being hit by a reversing truck.

The video was posted online on August 1 by the People’s Daily Online and takes place at an unidentified location.

Child fatalities on China’s roads are not an uncommon occurrence, with over 10,000 kids under 15 years of age dying in car crashes each year, according to Daily Mail.

This recent incident brings to mind the horrific case of Wang Yue, who was crushed by two vehicles in Foshan back in 2011. Wang lay dying and bleeding for 11 long minutes while 18 people walked past and did nothing.
