Franck Bistrot to Reopen Tomorrow After Farine Flour Scandal
By Betty Richardson
Today in the capricious world that is Shanghai F&B, esteemed eatery Franck Bistrot is to re-open this Thursday (May 25). The upmarket restaurant had closed in March after eponymous proprietor Franck Pécol's bakery chain Farine was beset by an expired flour scandal that saw four employees arrested, though Pécol himself remained in France on a "pre-planned trip."
In a curiously colloquial message for the normally austere French eatery, the official Franck WeChat account explains that only dinner service will be available for the time being, and to contact them "if u want to make a booking. Thx."
Is it Franck... minus Franck Pécol? Representatives for the restaurant did not immediately respond to inquiries.
A picture taken of the bistrot today appears to show the 'Franck' name completely removed from the restaurant.
