乾隆一生为何对它情有独钟？

作为燕京八绝之一，景泰蓝自古名震京城。

康熙、雍正、乾隆三代皇帝，都对景泰蓝喜爱有加。

尤其是乾隆，颇爱掐丝珐琅，登基后不久，便增设珐琅作，让景泰蓝的发展进入黄金期。

这景泰蓝，到底有何魅力？

景泰蓝，又叫铜胎掐丝珐琅，

是一项中国传统工艺。

你看，原本光秃秃的器皿，

有了景泰蓝的加持，

一下子就变得精致华丽、栩栩如生起来。

相传，

景泰蓝工艺起源于元代，

到了明朝景泰年间技艺趋于成熟， 

成品以蓝色为主，

因此得名“景泰蓝”。

在古代，

景泰蓝因为用料昂贵、工艺繁琐，

过去很长一段时间都是皇家专属。

仔细观察，

这些精美的纹饰，

都是匠人们用一根根发丝般细软的扁铜丝， 

掐成各种花纹焊上去的， 

在铜质的胎型上， 

填入多彩的色釉进行烧制。

接着进行磨光、镀金。

最后的景泰蓝成品

色泽鲜亮、端庄大气。

景泰蓝纹饰丰富，生动多姿。

有“龙凤呈祥”“暗八仙”

这样栩栩如生的图画；

也有“福、寿、喜”

这样简洁大气的文字；

还有寄托信仰的佛教图画等等。

景泰蓝集中华历史、文化、艺术于一身，

代表了我国手工艺品制作的高超技艺，

也体现了手工艺人们的匠心精神。

Jing tai lan (Cloisonné)

jing tai lan, also known as filigree enamel with copper mold, is a traditional Chinese craft. These containers which seem a bit dull become so exquisite with such vivid decorations.

Introduced during the Yuan Dynasty, Jing tai lan thrived in the Ming dynasty during the reign of the Jingtai Emperor (1450-1457), when a new blue pigment was discovered and gave jing tai lan its current name based on the Chinese word “lan” for blue. It used to be exclusive to the imperial families. 

The making of jing tai lan requires rather elaborate processes. Use red copper to make a mold, and weld copper wires on the copper mold according to the drawn pattern. Next, inlay glaze into the empty spaces of the pattern. After repeated enamel-firing, polishing and gilding, an exquisite jing tai lan product is made.

Traditional jing tai lan patterns include paintings of the auspicious Chinese dragon and phoenix, Chinese characters for sending good wishes as well as Buddhist images.

Nowadays, jing tai lan artworks often serve as China’s gifts to foreign leaders and international institutions, conveying Chinese people’s best wishes to the world.
