UIUC物理系博士涉嫌绑架章莹颖被捕，研究二维材料拓扑物理

当地时间6月30日晚，美国联邦调查局 (FBI) 宣布已逮捕涉嫌绑架中国访问学者章莹颖的美国嫌犯Brendt Christensen。该男子27岁，是一名实验凝聚态物理博士生，与章莹颖同在伊利诺伊大学厄巴纳香槟分校 (UIUC)。他将在下周一正式接受审理。警方推定，章莹颖已经遇害。
据FBI提供的视频显示，2017年 6月9日下午2点左右，在西克拉克街与北古德温大道街角，克里斯滕森的黑色汽车停在章莹颖旁边，章莹颖上了疑犯车辆的副驾驶。然后车辆离开，往古德温大道北部驶去。自此，章莹颖失联。
6月18日，FBI公布章莹颖绑架案悬赏信息，将奖励1万美元给能提供其所在地点的爆料者。香槟区域主要是白人，FBI在寻人启事上公布的信息也显示，疑犯是白人的可能性很大。
目前，Brendt Christensen已经被刑事拘留，他承认自己绑架了章莹颖。基于此，以及调查中还未揭露的事实，执法人员认为，章莹颖目前已经遇害。
根据嫌犯LinkedIn上信息，他是伊利诺伊大学厄巴纳香槟分校的博士研究生，已在该校工作3年零7个月。其个人介绍显示：
“我是一名实验凝聚态物理的博士生。目前，我负责制作纳米级设备并进行相关电气测量，以发现介观物理的新知识。这些测量需要多种设备，特别是探针机台和低温系统。另外，我还需利用一些编程工具，诸如Python，LabVIEW；同时还涉及电子束刻蚀，原子力显微镜等。”
