校长之声| 第024期：共同战“疫”，命运与共 Together We Fight Against the Virus

2020年新年，一场突如其来的病毒，打破了我们的新春佳节。自1月23日武汉封城以来，增长的数据、抗疫的行动一直牵动着我们的心。一群群医护人员成为“最美丽的逆行者”，他们放弃了春节陪伴家人的机会，他们放弃了安稳舒适的休假，冒着生命危险加入到抗疫的前线。

那时，很多的在国外的中国人、华人也纷纷利用海外资源，为国内募集口罩、酒精等急需物资。海嘉的家长们利用资源为学校及周边警察局捐赠口罩，中学的学生利用线上资源为湖北的小朋友开展免费的线上课程，全体海嘉教师也克服种种困难进行线上教学。

今天，国内的疫情已经得到了有效的控制，但国外的疫情却在短短的两周超过了中国过去两个月的数据，并且还在持续增长。“山川异域，风月同光”“一省援一国”还没有脱下防护服的医护人员再次踏上了征程。疫情的当下，大量的在海外的中国人和华人纷纷回国。

此刻，我想到了习主席提出的“人类命运共同体”，想到了海嘉的愿景就是培养孩子们成为有“国际心”的双语使者。

大自然是强大的、也是渺小的，它既能给我们带来的生命、阳光和温暖，同时也会带来地震、台风和海啸。一场病毒的来袭，何尝不是人类共同面对的一张考卷？人类是伟大的，也是渺小的，面对病毒，面对灾难，哪有什么国界？面对困境，哪里又分什么你我？面对这个未知的世界，天下的命运都将成为一体。

个人的力量太渺小，甚至一个国家的力量都是有限的，此时我们能做的，唯有携起手来，共同和病毒抗争到底。

Since this year's Spring Festival, the Chinese people have been united in waging a long-term war against COVID-19, starting on January 23 when Wuhan was locked down. Growing data and positive actions have been happened. A group of doctors and nurses became "the most beautiful rebel". They gave up their families time during the Spring Festival，and they gave up the safe and comfortable vacation and joined the front line of a “war”. At that time, many overseas Chinese collected resources like masks, alcohol and other urgently needed materials from overseas for domestic use. BIBA parents also donated masks for the school and the surrounding police station. Some high school students contributed some free online English courses to the children in Hubei province. All BIBA teachers overcame various difficulties and started online teaching.

Now, the number of confirmed cases outside China has doubled in just two weeks, and this number continues to increase. A large number of Chinese overseas now choose to return home because they think China has become safe.

I think of President Xi's "a shared future for mankind" and BIBA’s vision to develop internationally-minded bilingual ambassadors are very much relevant at this point in time.

Nature is powerful and small. It can not only bring us life, sunshine and warmth, but also bring us earthquakes, typhoons, and tsunamis. An attack of virus, its just like a test paper of life? Human beings are great, but are also small compared to the rest of the world. In the face of viruses, disasters, there are no national boundaries anymore. In the face of uncertainty in our world today, the fate of one country is the fate of all others.

The Individual human is too small, but even a country’s power is limited. At this point in time, what we can just do now is to join the war, fight this epidemic together, and save our common human destiny!
