World Poem Day
是五彩缤纷的鲜花的味道;
是绿草如茵的大地的味道;

We have not wings, we cannot soar;
But we have feet to scale and climb
By slow degrees, by more and more,
The cloudy summits of our time.
At a time when the challenges we face – from virus epidemic-seem so steep, the words of the poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow give us hope.
Arranged in words, coloured with images, struck with the right meter, poetry has a power that has no match. This is the power to shake us from everyday life and to remind us of the beauty that surrounds us and the resilience of the shared human spirit.
Poetry is a window onto the breath-taking diversity of humanity. UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity includes dozens of forms of oral expression and poetry, from the Tsiattista poetic duelling of Cyprus, the Ca trù sung poetry of Viet Nam and Al-Taghrooda to the traditional Bedouin chanted poetry of Oman and the United Arab Emirates. As old as language itself, poetry remains more vital than ever, in a time of turbulence, as a source of hope, as a way to share what it means to live in this world.
Poetry is not a luxury.
It lies at the heart of who we are as women and men, living together today, drawing on the heritage of past generations, custodians of the world for our children and grandchildren.
By celebrating poetry today——World Poem Day, we celebrate our ability to join together, in a spirit of solidarity, to scale and climb "the cloudy summits of our time."

Rainstorm
By: Anita Li 4D
Raindrops tic-tack on my shoes,
And more drops falling ones and twos.
I think all my friends are inside,
Not me, I think I should not hide.
Stormy weather makes me run,
To the puddles, so much fun.
On rainy days I’ll always be,
Running around for views to see.
Mud and splashes cover me!
Reflection:
When I was writing this poem, I felt very
excited, because when I finish writing this poem, I will be proud of myself. The reason that I write this poem is because I want to express what I feel about rainstorm. I really appreciate Mr. Hatcher, because he taught us how to write a poem. Thank you!
Cute Café
by Mina
Cute café full of critters,
Prancing around eating biscuits.
Dancing around sipping tea,
Gathered together talking about me. Sitting on the sofa with their huge eyes, Later at noon ordering pies!
Paying for a big bag of gummies,
Leaving the café with full tummies.
Reflection:
While I was writing this poem I was thinking about cute little animals sipping tea and then I thought about a café! I also really want a pet and this poem made me very cheerful and happy!
Tomorrow
By Jill Bai
There lays Happiness,
And strength, and Wonder.
There lays Sadness,
And rain, and Thunder.
There lays a brand new world,
With imagination, with Dreams.
It is a brand new place,
With many beautiful things.
It’s a day where anything could happen,
It’s a day beyond Today.
It’s a day when everyone’s in good mood,
It’s a day where Dreams come true......
Reflection:
Now readers, what make you think of when you read this poem? Did it make you think of......
Well, if you guys don’t know what the theme is yet, I will tell you right now! When I first think of the poem, (well, first, Mr. Pat gave us a topic of “The Next Day”, but I think the word “Tomorrow” sounds better so I just starts to write this poem!) I think that I will not have the word “Tomorrow” in my poem. Instead, I can describe it!
Other than that, I also thought of a movie that I like called “The Croodes”! It is about some caveman that wants to go to Tomorrow guiding by a caveman called “Guy”! At the end, the caveman family success and began a new life!
So back to my theme, it is about that in the future, anything could happen! Happy things might happen, but also sad things. Exciting things might happen, but also angry things. Never think that everyday is a happy day or everyday is a sad day. And never think that life is always hard or easy! The future— or even Tomorrow, is a Mystery!!!
Rules
by Andy Geng
I hate to hear rules ,
Cuz they are fools ,
Everyong really likes it,
Though I can't even fit!
Rules are like paresites,
Crawling into my mind at nights,
Even if I struggled awake
My overload head still hurt and ache.
Rules are certainly everywhere,
And that's the only thing they share.
So rules should be in the dump,
From George Washing to Donald Trump.
But what if
Rules vanished in a whiff?
Cars will hurry through traffic lights,
And no one want to see those sights.
Bandits will the you on the kites ,
AHHHH,I'm scared of heights,
Oh,no,we're in plights!
Guess the rules are for all our rights.
Reflection:
I read through Shel Silverstenin's book:"Where the Sidewalk Ends".Then,I got inspired by one of his work called:My Rules. So,I decided to also write a poem about rules .After I started, I tried to remember when I was small, and I hate rules. Now , I know that rules are important to all of us.This is why I wrote this poem with a contrast.
The poetry features that I included are : Rhyme Schemes, Onmatopoeia, hyperbole ,and Somile.
