Purpose of the Position

This position is based in the Public Communication team which is part of the Communication Department of the ICRC Regional Delegation in Beijing. To strengthen and develop the online communication, this position, under the supervision of Head of Online, shall create and deliver a wide variety of engaging content for digital channels, targeted at range of key audiences including the general public.  Both soft skills and technical skills are essential for this position.

Your Main Tasks

• Contributes to the development of digital content strategies and leads on its execution.

• Provides analytical input to the overall decision-making on the delegation’s online communication approach, specific policies and resulting practices

• Pro-actively formulates planning and evaluates relevance and effectiveness of the delegation’s outreach on social media in China

• Monitors the social media environment in China and advises the delegation on developments

• Maintains contacts with target groups at various level

• Contributes to content generation for digital outlets

• Contributes to written internal reporting 

Your Profile

• University degree in Journalism/Communication/Humanities; training in Social Media an asset

• Five years’ experience in public information and mass media, preferably      including experience in digital/online communication at national and      international levels

• Expertise in digital/social Media, in the use of internet, in communication, media, journalistic writing

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Fluent in written and spoken English and Chinese

• Confirmed capacity to analyse the political and social environment

• Knowledge of a broad range of communication techniques and tools, with technical skills in delivering communication outputs

• Demonstrated interest in the power of creativity and innovation to positively impact humanitarian organizations

• Curious, self-directed and open to change and flexibility

• Results driven yet able to work well within a team, listen and integrate feedback

• Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

• Effective internal and external networking
