Role Description
The Deputy Communication Coordinator is the focal point for selected communication and, where applicable, prevention programs or topics at the delegation level. S/he helps position the delegation by strengthening its external networking and contributes to setting and implementation of priorities, objectives and strategies. S/he supports the orientation, planning, monitoring and evaluation of the delegation's communication and, where applicable, prevention activities. S/he supervises heads of Units in communication department and provides technical support when needed. S/he replaces the Communication coordinator in the latter's absence.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
Works with the Communication coordinator and the Communication team, sharing information and coordinating objectives, plans of action and training programmes as relevant, in coordination with other departments.
When required, coordinates with Regional Communication Centres (RCCs) and the Communication and Information Management (CIM) Department in Geneva.
Contributes to implementing communication policies and guidelines drawn up by CIM, advising and supporting the delegation on their implementation and making sure that they are well understood.
Contributes to the implementation of the delegation's public engagement and digital strategies.
Contributes to institutional reporting and planning process, including budget setting and follow-up.
Contributes to developing and strengthening relations with the wide rage communication partners.
Represents the ICRC among diverse audiences in line with the delegation´s objectives.
Builds up and maintains a capacity to produce a mix of good-quality text, images and video contents for the delegation public engagement.
Contributes to the identification of COM opportunities and implementation of subsequent activities.
Contributes to the analysis of the, socio-economic, cultural and political environment relevant to ICRC.

Desired Profile &Skills
University degree or equivalent in communication, journalism, political sciences, international relations.
5 years' work experience in a function of comparable responsibilities.
Fluent in written and spoken English.
Good management skills.
Legal and public communication background an asset.
Capacity to apply and implement ICRC rules and procedures.
Capacity to carry out complex activities/files in various fields.
Excellent computer skills including.
Capacity to treat sensitive information confidentially.
Capacity to work in multicultural and multidisciplinary team.
