Defending champion
defend作动词，可以表示“卫冕”，英文解释为“When a sports player plays in the tournament which they won the previous time it was held, you can say that they are defending their title.”举个🌰：
The defending champion will play her first match of the tournament tomorrow.
卫冕冠军将在明天进行她在此次锦标赛中的第一场比赛。
同样在体育比赛中，还可以指“防守，防卫”，英文解释欸“to try to prevent the opposing player or players from scoring points, goals, etc. in a sport”举个🌰：

straight
straight作形容词，除了表示“直的”（without a bend or curve; going in one direction only），还可以指“一个接一个的，连续的，不间断的”（happening immediately one after another in a series），举个🌰：

在体育竞赛中，表示“循环赛”，英文解释为“A round-robin is a sports competition in which each player or team plays against every other player or team.”

表示“准备好（做某事）；蓄势待发；准备就绪的”，英文解释为“completely ready to do something or for something to happen, when it is likely to happen soon”举个🌰：
The company is poised to launch its new advertising campaign.

wrap up
表示“圆满完成，达成（协议）”，英文解释为“to complete something successfully”举个🌰：
Ministers wrap up their meeting in China today.
