Oreos may be easy to grab off any grocery store shelf, but Nabisco’s latest sandwich cookie is a little more exclusive. Thanks to some great branding and exclusive status, by Supreme.

Supreme, the Manhattan-based streetwear brand known for its limited edition drops. that is, highly anticipated new collection releases, which attract long lines and high resale prices online, released details of its newest collection on Monday, February 17. Supreme drops are renowned for attracting lines of fans and resellers several hours, or days, before the collection is sold in-store, managed by bouncers controlling crowds. Shoppers are also often only permitted to buy new wares in limited quantities, to move the line and also deter the re-sellers who hype up the exclusive goods and flip impressive profits.

drop,作名词本身可以表示“滴;少量,少许(饮料)”,英文解释为“A drop of a liquid is a very small amount of it shaped like a little ball. In informal English, you can also use drop when you are referring to a very small amount of something such as a drink.”如:a drop of blue ink 一滴蓝墨水。

bouncer

表示“(俱乐部、酒店等的)门卫,保安”,英文解释为“a person employed to stand at the entrance to a club, pub, etc. to stop people who are not wanted from going in, and to throw out people who are causing trouble inside”。

wares /wɛəz/

hype (up)

hype作动词,或者hype up,表示“(通过新闻媒体)大肆宣传,炒作”,英文解释为“to repeatedly advertise and discuss something in newspapers, on television, etc. in order to attract everyone's interest”举个🌰:

I am going to take three weeks' vacation and flip this house.

2)作动词,表示“快速翻阅;转动”,英文解释为“If you flip through the pages of a book, for example, you quickly turn over the pages in order to find a particular one or to get an idea of the contents. If you flip a device on or off, or if you flip a switch, you turn it on or off by pressing the switch quickly.”

You turn the machine on by flipping (= operating) the switch on the side.

Supreme’s Spring Summer 2020 drop will include faux fur varsity jackets, a sneaker collaboration with Nike and a consumable item: A Nabisco and Supreme partnership, in the form of a Double Stuf Oreo in Supreme’s signature bright red, with the recognizable Supreme logo printed in the center of each cookie. The packaging is also a red rectangle, iconic to the brand, with Supreme’s logo printed across the wrapper, along with Oreo’s signature.

faux fur

faux fur 人造毛,faux /fəʊ/表示“假的;伪造的;人工的 ”,英文解释为“not real, but made to look or seem real”。

wrapper

表示“包装材料;包装纸”,英文解释为“a piece of paper, plastic, or other material that covers and protects something”,如:a sweet wrapper 糖果包装纸。

Supreme’s tweet announcing the special cookie on February 17 has almost 19,0000 retweets and over 67,000 likes, with Twitter users comparing the new product to Oreo’s Red Velvet flavor, which appears slightly deeper in tone. Supreme x Oreo packages include three sandwich cookies, and retail at a rumored $8, as opposed to a standard pack of Double Stuf Oreos, which includes 39 sandwich cookies and retails at under $4.

The markup, however, isn’t swaying away Supreme enthusiasts, who, at this point, can only purchase the cookies from Supreme, not at supermarkets or big box stores.

markup

He's easily swayed.

Her speech failed to sway her colleagues into supporting the plan.

Supreme’s latest collection dropped at the SoHo flagship store on the morning of Wednesday, February 20, allowing entrepreneurial shoppers to grab the latest goods and resell them (or snack on them). The perishables, however, may be the best investment of the lot.

the lot

I made enough curry for three people and he ate the lot.

Have I got everything? Is that the lot?

As of Tuesday afternoon (before the official drop), Eater reported a pack of Supreme Oreos already listed on the secondary market, for $500. By noon, bids for a special sleeve of cookies had reached $4000 on two different eBay auctions for the exclusive treats. While Supreme streetwear is no stranger to extreme markups on resale sites, the goods can usually be worn, whereas this consumable is either a unique collectable or quick snack.

bid

作动词,表示“出价,喊价”,英文解释为“an offer of a particular amount of money for something that is for sale”举个🌰:I made a bid of $288 for the painting.
