Youku and TVB, old friend and new partners

One of the Chinese mainland's major streaming platforms, Youku has signed a cooperation agreement with Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) in the Hong Kong Special Administration Region.
Under the agreement, TVB and Youku will co-produce five TV dramas, including the second season of Big White Duel, which will release simultaneously on both platforms.
It is expected that the cooperation between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong platforms will allow them to combine their respective advantages.
Youku possesses a large user base in the Chinese mainland, while TVB has rich experience in content production and entertainment management.
Xu Tao, board chairman of TVB, said on 17th August that this cooperation is based on the successful experience of both platforms in releasing and coproducing film and TV series. He also noted that the two sides' abilities and resources are highly complementary when it comes to content development, artist cultivation, market development and exploration of new business models.
TVB's content and artist resources will further combine with Youku's platform resources to seek new breakthroughs and growth in new types of business such as e-commerce live streaming, Xu noted.
Almost 300 TVB series are available on video platforms in the Chinese mainland, such as Youku and Tencent Video. Genres range from martial arts and crime shows to epic war series.
TVB: the most dominant
broadcaster in Hong Kong
Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) is a television broadcasting company based in Hong Kong. The company operates five free-to-air terrestrial television channels in Hong Kong, with TVB Jade as its main Cantonese language service, and TVB Pearl as its main English service.
TVB is headquartered at TVB City at the Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate.It began operations on 19 November 1967. The company was registered on 26 July 1965 and was co-founded by Sir Run Run Shaw, who was chairman from 1980 to 2011, together with Sir Douglas Clague and Harold Lee Hsiao-wo of the Lee Hysan family.
TVB is known primarily for its dramas, and produces the Miss Hong Kong and Miss Chinese International pageants. It has historically been the most dominant broadcaster in Hong Kong.

Triumph in the Skies
Triumph in the Skies (2003) and Triumph in the Skies II (2013), a drama series revolving around the staff and pilots working for Solar Airways, a fictional version of Cathay Pacific. Triumph in the Skies was also adapted into a motion picture.
Triumph in the Skies (film) is a 2015 Hong Kong-Chinese romantic drama film directed by Wilson Yip and Matt Chow and starring Louis Koo, Sammi Cheng, Francis Ng, Julian Cheung, Charmaine Sheh, Amber Kuo, Océane Zhu and Dean Liu. The film is an adaptation of the Triumph in the Skies television series. Production started on 6 August 2014. The film was released on February 19, 2015.

Line Walker
Line Walker (film) is a 2016 action thriller film adapted from the 2014 TVB series of the same name. Directed by Jazz Boon and starring Nick Cheung, Louis Koo, Francis Ng; Charmaine Sheh, Benz Hui and Au Siu-wai reprised their roles from the original drama. Line Walker 2: Invisible Spy (film) is a 2019 action thriller film. It is adapted from the 2014 TVB series of the same name and serves as a sequel to the 2016 film Line Walker. Directed by Jazz Boon, the film stars Nick Cheung, Louis Koo and Francis Ng. All major characters in the film are different from the original drama series and the first film.
