Summer Camp for Kids with Handwriting Difficulties on Jul 3-5
We give you all the essentials in Beijing, from events to news to community connections.
LIH Olivia’s Place is offering a summer camp for kids with handwriting difficulties. Eva Ma, an occupational therapist at LIH Olivia’s Place, leads the team of specialists in the Summer Handwriting Camp for the Reluctant Writers, designed for children aged 5 to 7 with handwriting difficulties. We recently interviewed Ma, who discussed her sometimes tough but undeniably rewarding profession.
Our friends from LIH Olivia’s Place say kids at the camp will learn how to properly grip pencils, form letters, learn letter sizes and spacing, as well as improve legibility in writing English. Beyond those lessons, the camp promises a fun and interactive group with games and tabletop activities that focus on improving bilateral coordination, visual motor, and spatial awareness. Accompanying parents have a role too as the teachers will involve them at the camp. Parents will get tips and ideas on combining handwriting and play, as well as strategies for activities to practice handwriting at home during summer.
