A husband received quite the shock recently when a paternity test revealed that he was not the father of one of his twins.
The paternity test was part of the requirements for the couple’s twin infants obtaining household registration in the Fujian city of Xiamen. Prior to the test, the husband had his suspicions, according to a report from local news media, believing that one of the twins didn’t look a thing like him.
After finding out the results, the husband confronted his wife who was eventually forced to admit to having a one-night stand.
As you might expect, the husband has not taken the news well, declaring, “I will certainly raise my own child, but I’m not going to raise the child of another man.”
Twins being born to two different fathers is called “heteropaternal superfecundation” and is extremely rare. It occurs when sperm from two different men fertilize two eggs during the same reproductive cycle in a woman.
