2003年，在上海市虹口区文化局（现更名为上海市虹口区文化和旅游局）的规划中，多伦路一栋原本充当菜市场的烂尾楼被改建为美术馆，从此拉开了一家公立非盈利艺术机构曲折起伏的发展序幕。2017年经历了新的机制改革后，上海多伦现代美术馆重新出发，抓住机遇组建起全新的工作团队，围绕建馆之初就确定的“原创性、学术性、国际性”的办馆理念，不仅持续推动青年艺术家项目、国际交流项目，同时也展开了一系列的在地性实践，关注本土、深入社区，以艺术介入城市空间；并与同济大学等高校和中小学签订战略协议、打造馆校合作的平台，助力城市和社会美育，服务公众，践行美术馆作为非盈利机构的公共使命和职责。

2023年，上海多伦现代美术馆迎来了建馆二十周年的重要时间节点，作为中国第一家由政府举办的公立现当代美术馆，它也是中国当代艺术的重要参与者、推动者。在这二十年间艺术界和美术馆行业都发生了巨大的变化。在这样的大背景中，我们找到了概括这一变化和美术馆自身历史沿革的关键词“迭代”，既强调这一汉语语词“四时更迭”变化往复之本意，也借用其作为一个计算机术语所含的不断更迭更趋完善之意。2023年全年，我们都将以“迭代20年”这一主题为线索，陆续展开学术委员会项目、展览、学术论坛、工作坊等一系列工作计划，而如前所述，“迭代20年”这一主题所要呈现的不仅仅是对美术馆自身历史的梳理，而是试图以一家机构二十年的历史片段，编织展现这二十年间中国当代艺术从艺术现象、艺术思潮到艺术体制、艺术生态的整体微缩景观，并试图抛出其中的问题、引发相应的思考。

3月25日，上海多伦现代美术馆将召开新一届学术委员会会议，并向委员会提交年度工作计划，在通过委员会的审议后，一系列的具体工作将会陆续展开，期待您的关注和支持！（设计师：代延平  微信编辑：程韵雯）

Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art Launches Its 20th Anniversary Theme and Main Visual

In 2003, in the plan of Hongkou Cultural Bureau(which is now renamed as Hongkou Culture and Tourism Bureau), a building on Duolun Road that had been used as food market was converted into an art museum, thus beginning the twists and turns of a public non-profit art institution. After new mechanism reform in 2017, Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern art has started anew, seizing the opportunity to build a new working team. Basing on the concept of originality, academics and internationalism set at the beginning of the museum's establishment, we not only continue to promote young artists' projects and international exchange programmes, but also launch a series of local practices, focusing on the local area, reaching out to the community and intervening in urban spaces with art. We have signed strategic agreements with Tongji University and other universities and primary and secondary schools, creating a platform for cooperation between the museum and the schools, helping to educate the city and society about aesthetics, serving the public and fulfilling the public mission and responsibilities of the museum as a non-profit organization.

2023 marks Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art the 20th anniversary. Being the first public contemporary art museum founded by government in China, Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art was also an important participant and promoter of contemporary art in China in its infancy, and has thereafter experienced a major wave of development in the entire museum industry . In this overall background, we find the key word iteration that can sum up this change and the history of the museum itself. Iteration not only emphasizes a Chinese phrase in its original sense of change and repetition which means four seasons change, but also as a computer term for constant change and improvement. In the entire 2023, we will use the theme of Twenty Years of Iteration as a thread to develop a series of academic committee projects, exhibitions, academic forums, workshops and other work plans. As what mentioned before, Twenty Years of Iteration is not just a review of the museum's own history. Rather, it’s an attempt to take a fragment of a museum’s twenty-year history to present a microcosm of Chinese contemporary art from art phenomena, art trends to artistic system and art ecology, and to raise questions and provoke thoughts about them.

Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art will convene a new session of the Academic Committee on March 25, and will submit annual working plans to the committee. After passing the Committee's deliberations, a number of specific tasks will follow one after another. We look forward to your attention and support!
