Artist in Residence 驻场艺术家: Dhaneshwar Shah
This month, YCIS Beijing welcomes Dhaneshwar Shah as our Artist in Residence. We speak to Shah about his projects with our students and how the residency has refreshed his own artistic ideas.

Please introduce yourself

My name is Dhaneshwar Shah. I completed my BFA and MFA in my home city of New Delhi. Subsequently I studied at the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou. Most recently I was awarded a scholarship by the Chinese Government to complete a doctorate in the future of ink art, which brings me to Beijing.
我的名字是Dhaneshwar Shah。我在家乡新德里拿到了美术学士和硕士学位。随后我在杭州的中国美术学院学习。最近，我还获得了中国政府奖学金，以在未来完成水墨艺术博士学位，所以我来到了北京。
Please explain some of the activities you have been doing with students at YCIS
请讲述您在北京耀中与学生们一起做的活动
We’ve been doing all sorts of activities: drawing lessons, sculptures made from recycled materials, sound art and our 3m x 3m Friendship Canvas. The Friendship Canvas is a collaborative piece between myself and the students that will hang in the school after I leave.
我们一直在做各种活动：绘画课程，使用回收材料制作雕塑，声音艺术和我们3米×3米的友谊帆布。友谊帆布是我与学生们合作的一件作品，在我离开之后将会挂在学校。
What do you think of our Artist in Residence programme?

I have attended a many art residencies but this experience has been totally unique. I am experiencing art in a new way – surrounded by young students with brave and creative ideas. This residency has really enlivened me, refreshing my ideas and imbuing me with a new artistic energy.
我参加过许多艺术家驻场活动，但这次的体验是独一无二的。我以全新的方式体验艺术—勇敢有创新想法的年轻学生环绕周围。这样的驻场经历感染了我，让我的想法焕然一新，让我充满了新的艺术活力。
