Chinese, but there are 55 other ethnic groups.
Beijing is the capital of China. It is in the north of China. Bejing
is famous for its culture and its food.Peking Opera is world-famous.
There are many kinds of local food in Beijing.Beijing duck is the
most famous one.
中国在东亚。它有许多美丽的山脉和河流。珠穆朗玛峰是世界上最高的山
峰。长江和黄河是中国最长的两条河。
中国是世界上人口最多的国家。中国有超过13亿的人口。大部分中国人是

The Story of Guo Nian过年的放事
Long ago there was a monster called Nian. He lived in the sea. He always went to small villages in the south of China before the new year. He ate many people. Everyone was afraid of him,so they ran away to the mountains.
one year, a wise old man came to a village. He said he was not afraid of the monster and he could scare the monster away. He stayed at an old womans house.
-I can scare the monster away.
-No, it's too dangerous! Come with us to the mountains.
At midnight, the monster came to the village. He saw the old woman's house. There was red paper on the door and windows. The monster hated the colour red. There was also a bright light.The monster hated bright lights .
Then the old man came out. He was wearing red clothes. He lit some firecrackers. Bang! Bang! Bang! The monster hated the loud noise. He was afraid and ran back to the sea.
The people came back to the village. They were happy to see the old man. He told them how to be safe.
-On New Years Day, put red paper on your doors and windows .Have bright lights and light firecrackers. The monster will not come again.
Now, every New Year, Chinese people put red paper on their doors and windows. They put up bright lights and light firecrackers. They also say“ Guo Nian Hao!” And now,the monster never comes !
很久以前有一个叫年的怪物。他住在海里。在新年之前,他总是去中国南部的小村庄。他吃了许多人。每个人都怕他,所以他们逃到了山上。
一年,一个有智慧的老人来到一个村庄。他说他不害怕怪物,而且他能把怪物吓走。他待在一个老妇人的家里。
我能把怪物吓走。
不,那太危险了!跟我们一起去山上吧。

在新年那天,在你们的门和窗户上贴上红纸。挂上明亮的灯(笼),点燃鞭炮。怪物就不会再来了。
现在,每逢新年,中国人都在他们的门和窗户上贴上红纸。他们挂起明亮的灯(笼),点燃鞭炮。他们也说“过年好!”现在,怪物从不来了!

1. 能够借助图片读懂 Fun Time 的基本信息,并尝试进行小制作。
2. 学唱与本单元话题相关的歌曲。
二、教学建议
A. Good to know.
1. 热身活动
在阅读活动前,教师先与学生自由谈话,如教师问: Where is China on the
world map? What is China famous for? Can you introduce a famous place in China?
学生回答。师生简单谈论后,教师引导学生看 A 部分的短文配图,预测短文内
容。
2. 阅读活动
(1) 阅读前,教师提问学生: Where is China? What is the population of China? What is the capital of China? 学生带着这几个问题快速阅读短文,并从中找到相
关信息。之后教师播放录音,学生核对答案。最后教师在语境中教授新词 Asia和 population。
(2) 教师再提问学生: What is the highest mountain in the world? What are the famous rivers in China? 然后请学生阅读第一段, 并找出相应的答案。 教师播放相应段落的录音,并适时教授生词: Qomolangma, Yangtze River, Yellow River 。
(3) 教师提问: How many ethnic groups are in China? 学生自主阅读第二段,
并找到答案: Han Chinese and 55 other ethnic groups. 教师播放相应段落的录音,适时教授本环节出现的生词。 教师和学生沟通, 询问学生是什么民族, 让学生尝试用 Chinese/Meng Chinese ... 简单介绍一下自己的民族成分。
(4) 教师提问:Where is Beijing? What is Beijing famous for? 学生自主阅读第
三段,并找出相应的答案。教师播放相应段落的录音,在讲解过程中处理生词:
culture, world-famous, local food 等。此段落难度不大, 且较为贴近学生生活实际,教师可把其作为让学生仿写、背诵的段落处理,帮助学生积累语言素材。
Tips:
1. 这篇短文有一定的难度,教师的提问一定要有梯度,让学生跳一跳就能
够得到。教师不要一上来就让学生阅读全文,或不给学生任何提示。
2. 教学此处时,教师仍然不能忽略语音的渗透与模仿,应尽可能多的让学
生接触到原声。
3. 教师尽量引导学生通过上下文猜测生词大意,培养学生的阅读策略。
4. 第三段落是贴合学生生活较好的段落, 教师可将此段落的练习时间加长。
B. Let ’s make.
此部分可留作课外作业。 教师提出要求, 请学生使用学过的语言介绍自己的
家乡在中国地图上所处的方位, 有什么著名景点及特产, 以此激发学生对于自己
家乡的热爱。 对于不知道的信息, 教师可以鼓励学生上网查阅相关资料, 下次上
课时请学生做口头汇报。 教师还可以和学生一起把作品做成一期海报, 张贴在教
室后面的墙壁上进行展出。
C. Let ’s sing.
1. 教师播放歌曲。
2. 教师可以为每位学生提供一份缺少部分单词的歌词单, 请学生边听歌曲,
边填写出所缺的单词。
3. 教师再次播放歌曲,学生跟唱。
4. 如有必要,教师可以逐句教,然后再让学生合唱。
