《塞翁失马》

One day, 

an old man lost his horse,

一天，一位老人丢了他的马，

but he wasn't sad.

但是他并不感到悲伤。

A few weeks later,

几周过后，

his horse came back along

with a stronger horse.

他的马带了一匹更壮的马回来了。

The old man's friends 

were happy, but he wasn't.

老人的朋友们都很开心，但是他并没有。

Later, the old man's son

过了一段时间，老人的儿子

fell off the stronger horse

从那匹更壮的马上摔了下来，

and broke his leg.

把腿摔伤了。

Then there was a war.

不久，战争爆发了。

All the young men

had to join the army

所有的年轻人不得不参军，

and many of them died.

很多人在战场上牺牲了。

The old man's son 

didn't join the army

because his leg was broken.

老人的儿子因为腿摔伤了没有去参军。
