A poor fisherman and his wife

lived in a small house.

一个贫穷的渔民和他的妻子

住在一座小房子里。

One day 

he went fishing in the sea.

一天，他去海里捕鱼。

Soon he pulled up a goldfish.

很快，他捞上来一条金鱼。

"Oh, please let me go,"

the goldfish said.

“噢，请放过我吧，”金鱼说，

"I'll come to help you

when you need anything."

“当你有什么需要的时候

我会过来帮助你的。”

The old man was very kind.

那个老人很善良。

He put the fish back 

into the sea.

他把金鱼放回大海了。

He told his wife about the fish.

他告诉他的妻子关于那条鱼的事。

"Our washtub is very old.

“我们的洗衣盆很旧了，

Why not ask for a new one?"

为什么不要一个新的呢？”

his wife cried.

他的妻子喊道。

"What can I do for you?"

the fish asked.

“我可以为你做什么呢？”金鱼问道。

"My wife wants a new washtub,"

said the old man.

“我妻子想要一个新的洗衣盆，”老人说道。

Now 

his wife got a new washtub,

现在他的妻子得到了一个新的洗衣盆，

but she was not happy.

但是她仍不高兴。

She wanted a new house.

她想要一座新的房子。

Then his wife got a new house,

然后，他的妻子得到了一座新房子，

but she was not happy.

但是她还不高兴。

She wanted a palace 

and new clothes.

她想要一座宫殿和新衣服。

"What do you want this time?"

the fish asked.

“这次你想要什么呢？”金鱼问。

"My wife wants a palace 

and new clothes."

“我的妻子想要一座宫殿和新衣服。”

The old man got home.

老人回家了。

Now his home 

was a beautiful palace,

现在他的家是一座漂亮的宫殿，

but his wife was not happy.

但是他的妻子不开心。

"I want to be the Queen 

of the Sea.

“我想要成为大海的女王。

I want the goldfish to 

be my servant,"

我想要那条金鱼来做我的仆人，”

his wife shouted.

他的妻子大喊道。

The old man went to the seaside,

老人去到海边，

but this time the goldfish

didn't give him anything.

但是金鱼这次什么都没给他。

The old man went home.

老人回到家中。

The palace was not there.

宫殿已经不在了。
