Org. Setting and Reporting
This profile is for the sole purpose of the Internship Programme of the United Nations Conference for Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva. There should be no expectation of employment within the UN after an internship. Interns shall not be eligible to apply for, or be appointed to, positions at the professional level and above carrying international recruitment status in the Secretariat for a period of six months following the end of their internship. UN interns must have a valid visa. The Internship Programme is unpaid and full-time, i.e. an intern is expected to work 8 hours a day five days per week. This internship is located in the Office of the Director of UNCTAD's Division on Investment and Enterprise (DIAE). The internship is for three months with an opportunity for extension, pending on the needs of the department and performance of the intern. The internship position is available between: 01/11/2017 to 31/12/2017.
Responsibilities
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
-Assist with the preparation of inter-governmental meetings.
-Assist with the drafting, designing and editing of publications (reports, brochures).
-Assist with social media outreach.
-Assist with programmatic matters.
-Provide copy-editing and writing support where needed.
-Other duties, as assigned.
More generally, interns shall:
Observe all applicable rules, regulations, instructions, procedures and directives of the Organization notwithstanding their status as described in section 4 of the UN Internship Programme Administrative Instructions ST/AI/2000/9 & ST/AI/2005/11. Provide the receiving departments/offices with a copy of all materials prepared by them during the internship. The UN shall be entitled to all property rights, including but not limited to patents, copyrights and trademarks, with regard to material which bears a direct relation to, or is made in consequence of, the services provided under the internship. At the request of the UN, the interns shall assist in securing such property rights and transferring them to the UN in compliance with the requirements of the applicable law. Respect the impartiality and independence required of the UN and of the receiving department/office and shall not seek or accept instructions regarding the services performed under the internship agreement from any Government or from any authority external to the UN. Unless otherwise authorized by the appropriate official in the receiving department/office, they may not communicate at any time to the media or to any institution, person, Government or any other external source any information which has become known to them by reason of their association with the UN or the receiving department/office, that they know or ought to have known has not been made public. They may not use any such information without the written authorization of the appropriate official, and such information may never be used for personal gain. These obligations also apply after the end of the internship with the UN. And, refrain from any conduct that would adversely reflect on the UN or on the receiving department/office and will not engage in any activity which is incompatible with the aims and objectives of the UN.

Technological Awareness: Keeps abreast of available technology. Understands applicability and limitations of technology to the work of the office. Actively seeks to apply technology to appropriate tasks. Shows willingness to learn new technology.
Education
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if , must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation. Be computer literate in standard software applications.
For this internship position preference will be given to studies in law with focus on international economic law and economic development.
Work Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an asset. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.

Org. Setting and Reporting
The internship at the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs, Geneva Branch is for at least two months with an opportunity for extension, pending on the needs of the department. Successful applicants could work in one or more of several different areas which fall under the Branch's activities: the Conference on Disarmament, the Anti-Personnel Landmine Convention (APLC), the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC), and the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW). In addition, the Branch supports a large number of disarmament-related conferences. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. The internship duration cannot exceed six months.
Responsibilities
The intern will: 1. provide assistance in drafting and preparing official documents, press releases and statements; 2. provide assistance in maintaining records and datasets; 3. attend and summarize conferences and meetings; 4. conduct research, including document, legal and internet searches; 5. provide assistance during conferences; 6. work on web presentations and social media presence; 7. Fulfil other duties as required.

The Royal Danish Embassy is looking to recruit an energetic, results-oriented business and partnerships developer with in-depth experience from the food, agriculture & fisheries sector to take on a full-time position as Commercial Officer.
Your job will be to develop and apply business solutions for Danish food, agriculture or fishery companies with a presence of potentials, or growing in China.
The Trade Council (TC) is fully integrated with the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. TC assists and promotes Danish companies’ interests in China. TC China consists of 5 different industry teams with around 50 employees in 5 different locations. You will be a member of the Food, Agriculture & Fisheries Team, which consist of 14 officers and you will be reporting directly to the Beijing-based Minister Counsellor (Statskonsulent) for Food, Agriculture & Fisheries. You will be working closely with colleagues in Shanghai, Chongqing, Guangzhou and Taipei. We offer a challenging work environment where you need to combine independent work with a high degree of team-work. The Trade Council provides access to China for Danish companies by a range of services:
- Public Affairs, Market Access and Regulatory Affairs advisory
- Business partnering

Required Qualifications:

- Experience in executing consultancy services as well as strong commercial sense
- Business background – alternatively, official ministerial or consumer goods background with solid work experience
- International experience, possibly from studies, working abroad or working in an international company
- Excellent command of English and Mandarin - oral and written
- Knowledge about Danish food, agriculture, aquatic or ingredient businesses is a plus
- Structured mindset and excellent planning and coordination skills
- Experience working with governmental affairs in China and Chinese officials is an advantage
