Teaming up to Clean Up!

The first Yunnan Mountain Cleanup event took place on Sunday, December 13, with volunteers gearing up to make an impact.

Green Solutions Founder, Leo, led a team of volunteers through the beaten-track trails of Yunnan Mountain Scenic Area on a crisp, cool Sunday morning, with one goal in mind: Pick up as much litter and trash as possible!

山林清洁组队中！

2020年12月13日，星期日，我们举办了首次云南山林清洁活动，志愿者们聚集在一起，进山做贡献！

在这个清爽凉快的周日清晨，Green solutions发起人，Leo，带领志愿者团队从云南山林风景名胜区的常规路线进入，他们都有同一个目标：拾起垃圾，越多越好！

What is Team up to Clean Up?

什么是组队山林清洁？

The Yunnan Mountain Cleanup project is a community-based event, aiming to raise awareness among the thoughtless litterers. The first cleanup was an ultimate success with volunteers, ready and willing to get busy cleaning and do their part for the local environment.

云南山林清洁项目是一个社区活动，旨在让欠缺考虑随意乱扔垃圾的人们提高勿随手乱扔垃圾的意识。志愿者们参与并尽己所能为这项忙碌的清洁工作和当地环境尽一份力。有了他们的支持，我们首次云南山林清洁活动取得圆满的成功！

The Journey

我们的线路

The team started out at 10:30am on their treacherous hike on the dirt trails off the mountain area, reaching the secluded and tranquil Miaogao Temple, which happens to be a popular weekend hangout amongst the locals. A delicious vegan buffet was served allowing the volunteers to refuel and energize for the task ahead.

The Temple is also a famous spot for city dwellers, as they flock to the mountain to collect spring water, this however, leads to mass amounts of trash and litter being tossed away carelessly along the mountain trails. Leaving the local Ayi’s overwhelmed and exhausted as they continuously try to keep the place in tip-top condition.

团队于上午10点半出发，从山下的土路开始徒步，到达幽静隐秘的妙高寺—当地人周末的落脚点。在这里有一顿美味的素食自助午餐提供给大家，为志愿者们补足能量来完成接下来的工作。

对于城市居民来说，妙高寺的也是著名景点之一，他们成群结对到山上取泉水，也正因为如此，大量的垃圾被随意丢弃在过往的山路中。随手一扔的行为让庙里工作生活的阿姨们不堪重负，精疲力尽，因为她们一直努力保持庙院的整洁干净，让一切都维持好的状态。

Impactful Change

有影响力的改变

After lunch, the team then descended down the trails, picking up litter and collecting trash. Volunteers of all ages from all backgrounds, united together as they worked tirelessly trying to clean up the area. An astonishing amount of trash was collected, gathered and responsibly disposed of at the designated bins around the scenic area.

午餐结束后，团队沿着小路向下走，捡拾垃圾；不同年龄，不同背景，不同经历，相同的是志愿者们在一起，孜孜不倦地努力清洁小路，维持自然环境。随着时间的流逝，数量惊人的垃圾被捡起、收集，最后一并放置在景区附近指定的垃圾桶内。

Litter is forever a problem amongst our streets, parks and scenic spots, which ultimately takes away the beauty and dampens the atmosphere for visitors. 

Awareness is a fundamental resource we can use to help people understand the impacts of their actions on the environment, however leading by example is a key element for change.

The Yunnan Mountain Cleanup project is the first of many! It happens on the first or second weekend of every month. The project aims to gather volunteers who are eager to hike around the mesmerizing city of Kunming, cleaning up local trails along the way. 

在我们的生活中，街道上、公园里、景点内，垃圾扔放一直是个问题。垃圾破坏风景环境，降低游客旅行体验感，影响市容市貌。但意识可以改变现状。意识，让人们了解其行为对环境资源的影响，潜移默化地改变人的行为，而以身作则是改变的关键要素。

云南山林清洁项目是众项目之首!它在每个月的第一或者第二个周末开展。该项目旨在聚集喜欢、享受、沉醉迷人昆明的徒步旅行志愿者们，清理当地沿途的步道，献出一份力。

不能徒步吗？没有关系。。。

Sometimes life gets in the way and people are too busy to volunteer, but all hope is not lost! We are looking for people and businesses, who support our work and want to help the cause, in donating much needed equipment to help facilitate the Yunnan Mountain Cleanup Project. Preview of Our Next Cleanup

1月山林清洁活动详情

Join us on Sunday, January 10th for a hike and trash clean-up! We will hike from Damoyu Village (west of Kunming) to a nearby Yi village, Sanjia Village and enjoy the beautiful mountain and lake landscape while also helping to preserve its natural beauty.

1月10日（星期日），加入我们的山林清洁活动吧！我们将从位于昆明西的大墨雨村出发，徒步到附近的一个彝族村庄--三家村。那里有美丽的山和湖景，也有一大堆需要清理的垃圾。

Our hike will begin in Damoyu village. Though Damoyu is only an hour drive from bustling downtown Kunming, you can find people here leading a much slower pace of life. The village was inhabited by local Yi dwellers for centuries but became abandoned when many residents moved to nearby cities in pursuit of higher-paying jobs. A few years back, a university professor discovered the hamlet, remodelled one of the earthen houses and settled down here to lead a laid-back and sustainable lifestyle and practice permaculture. Ever since, like-minded people who are tired of fast-paced lifestyles and heavy pollution in the major cities all over China have moved to Damoyu Village. Today there are about 150 new members living in harmony with the indigenous people and the surrounding nature.

虽然大墨雨距离繁华的昆明市中心不到一个小时的车程，但你可以发现这里的人生活节奏慢得多，村庄附近是宁静且不被外界打扰的。当地的彝族居民已经在这里居住了几个世纪。但近年，一些居民为了在附近城市找寻高薪的工作而离开了这里。他们的传统住所也因此被废弃。几年前，一位大学教授发现了这座村庄，对其中一座土房进行了改造，并在这里定居下来，倡导着悠闲而可持续的生活方式，并实践着永续耕种。

从那以后，那些厌倦了快节奏的生活方式和中国各大城市的严重污染的志同道合的人陆续来到这里。这个村庄变得繁盛，但依然保持着平静。目前，共有150名左右的“新成员”， 他们与当地的住民以及周围的自然和谐友好地相处。

After arriving in Damoyu Village, we will grab a quick lunch at a friendly couple's restaurant (with vegetables they have grown in their own garden!). We will then hike for an hour and half to get to another more remote Yi village-Sanjia Village, which is inhabited only by local Yi dwellers. Sanjia village offers stunning mountain and lake views and is a polupar hang-out and camping spot for city dwellers. In an unfortunate contrast to the breath-taking lake and mountain view, trash can be found around the scenic area. As a group, we can remove enough trash to polish up the site. 

我们将在一家由一对友善的夫妻开办的餐厅享用午餐，他们在这里有机地种植蔬菜。徒步旅行将从村庄的后方开始，大约需要一个半小时才能到达另一个偏远的彝族村庄--三家村，那里只有当地居民。三家村享有绚丽的山光湖景，是城市居民出游和露营的人气场所。然而你也会发现，每个当地人的房屋前堆积的垃圾与这里的美景格格不入。

Please Note!

-MEETING PLACE-

We will meet at Xizhan Bus Station on Hongshan East Road at 10am and take bus C61 for about an hour to get to the start of the hike, Damoyu Village. Return: You can try to hail a car at Sanjia Village to head back to the city or get to the main road for bus C61. Alternatively, you can walk for about an hour to get the main road for the bus. 

-LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY-

The activity does require certain level of physical fitness. We don't recommend children under 10 to attend unless they're natural hikers.

-WHAT TO BRING-

We will be providing some reusable XL trash bags, tongs and gloves but we still recommend you to bring your own. Also, make sure to bring a mask with you, as part of the trail will be dusty.  The event is free of charge but you'll be covering your own insurance cost. We recommend you to bring some snacks using your own container. You'll be covering your own food cost at the local lunch place. 

注意事项！

-集合地点-

我们将于上午10点在虹山东路的西站公交站集合，乘坐C61路公交巴士。大约一个小时到达大墨雨村，开始徒步之旅。

返回：你可以尝试在三家村搭车回到城区或者坐车到公交巴士途经的主路转乘C61路公交。你可以步行大约一个小时，回到公交巴士途经的主路。

 -难度-

本次活动确实需要一定的身体素质。我们不建议10岁以下的孩子参加，除非是有很强的徒步能力。

-你需为此活动准备的-

我们将提供一些可重复使用的大号垃圾袋，钳子和手套，但我们仍然建议自备。另外，请确保带上口罩，因为部分路段可能灰尘比较多。活动是免费的，我们统一购买保险，但你需要自行承担费用。我们建议你用自己的容器带一点小零食。你需承担你的午餐的费用。
