Brawl on the Wall: Wang vs Yang
Beijing's favorite black-tie boxing event, Brawl on The Wall, is back for yet another bout of fighting at the Park Hyatt Beijing on April 29.
The 2017 Brawl on the Wall is shaping up to be yet another smash hit. Over 500 people are expected to attend the black-tie boxing extravaganza and look on as nine pairs of 'white collar' boxers go head to head. All fighters have undergone intensive training over the past three months. And they'll be ready to show what they've got on April 29.
Leading up to the big night we will be posting interviews with the boxers. From the seventh bout, Wang "The Amur Leopard" Han and Yang Bo Wen took the time to answer some questions:
Wang Han
Nationality: Chinese
Age: 25
Weight: 77kg
Favorite quote: "Life is a battle."
What made you decide to fight?: I love boxing.
If you could fight anyone, dead or alive, who would it be? Floyd Mayweather.
What's been the most difficult challenge for you since you started training? Actual combat. I was quite nervous in the very beginning that I could not even play at my normal training level. But it’s all good now after many matches.
What positive changes have you seen in yourself since you started training? It's made me active, confident and firm.
Describe a memorable experience from your training. None.
Favorite boxer? 3g and Tyson.
Favorite fight ever? The white collar.
Advice for people who are thinking of participating in next year's Brawl on the Wall. Training hard, making progress together and showing yourself in the ring.
Yang Bo Wen
Nationality: Chinese
Age: 22
Weight: 74kg
Favorite quote: "Shoulder to pick everything, fist early."
What made you decide to fight?: American dream.
If you could fight anyone, dead or alive, who would it be? Makunouchiitsuho (a Japanese name, this is just a transliteration, not sure if it’s correct or not).
What's been the most difficult challenge for you since you started training? Technical proficiency.
What positive changes have you seen in yourself since you started training? Failure and stand up.
Describe a memorable experience from your training. First time watching professional league.
Favorite boxer? Vasyl Lomachenko
Favorite fight ever? Next one.
Advice for people who are thinking of participating in next year's Brawl on the Wall. Hold on until the end and you will be the winner.
Tickets for Brawl on the Wall
All tickets include a four-course meal, free-flow wine, beer, cocktails and soft drinks. Each table sits 10 people, with Silver tables going for RMB8,000, Gold tables for RMB11,000 and Ringside tables (which come with four bottles of sparkling wine/Champagne) for RMB15,000.
