Water lanterns to be lit on 1st day of Chinese New Year
An array of water lanterns can now be seen at Baotu Spring Park in Jinan. Forty-seven lanterns are set for the 41st Baotu Spring Lantern Festival and over half of them have been installed. All will be lit at Baotu Spring Park on the first day of Chinese New Year!
近日在济南趵突泉公园内可见大批花灯。济南趵突泉第41届花灯会将展示47座花灯，目前超过50%的花灯已安装完毕，所有花灯将于大年初一在趵突泉公园正式亮灯！

Jinan intl winter swimming competition opens
The IWSA World Cup (Jinan) 2020 kicked off in Jinan on Jan 11, attracting 1,195 competitors from 30 countries and regions. Petra Theman, deputy head of mission at the Finnish embassy in Beijing, attended the event as a VIP guest.
1月11日，2020年国际冬泳世界杯(济南站)暨第八届中国济南冬季畅游泉水国际公开赛在济南大明湖风景区隆重开幕，吸引了来自30个国家和地区102支代表队的1195名勇士。当日，芬兰驻中国大使馆公使Petra Theman作为重要嘉宾也出席了本次活动。

1月14日，芬兰驻中国大使馆公使谭碧天（Petra Theman）点赞并转发济南推特页面就1月13日“泉城举行2020年国际冬泳世界杯，千余名选手大明湖体验冬泳”相关报道，支持2020年国际冬泳杯济南站的举办。

Technology tracks ages of springs in Jinan
Experts in Shandong used carbon-14 dating technology to accurately calculate the age of spring water in Jinan on Jan 10. According to the result, the city's springs date back to between 23,500 and 46,000 years ago.
1月10日，山东省专家利用碳14技术较为准确地测算出济南泉水的出露年代，结果显示济南“泉龄”为距今46000年至23500年左右。
10家“中科系”院所落户济南
10 CAS affiliated institutes introduced in Jinan
In recent years, Jinan has been actively promoting cooperation with institutes at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), jointly setting up research and development institutions across the city.
近年来，济南积极与中国科学院所属院所机构开展合作，联合在济南设立研发机构。
Currently, Jinan is home to 10 affiliated institutes of the CAS, with another three expected to open in the near future. The projects involve technical fields in information technology, biomedicine, aerospace, electromagnetic technology, and advanced manufacturing.
目前济南已引进10家“中科系”所属院所机构，有3家在谈。合作项目涉及信息技术、生物医药、航空航天、电磁技术、先进制造等领域。

Spring Festival celebrated at railway station in Huaiyin district
Jinan West Railway Station in Huaiyin district hosted a special Chinese Spring Festival activity on Jan 10. With a series of folk shows and stalls selling handicrafts and snacks, the event proved popular with the many passengers passing through the station.
1月10日，“高铁环游齐鲁贺年会”在槐荫区济南西站内开幕。通过一系列民俗表演以及售卖的手工艺品和小吃，此次活动吸引了车站内的不少旅客。
