There are many old streets in Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, and most of them have long histories. Would you like to know one of them? Just as when you go to Beijing for your first time, you must go to Wangfujing, if you are heading off to Jinan for the first time, you must go to Furong Street.

Furong Street is located in the center of the old town in the Lixia district. It starts from Quancheng Road, the busiest street in Jinan and ends at the south gate of the Xuefu Confucius Temple. It is 432 meters long and 6 m wide. Furong Street is named after the Furong Springs. Furong in Chinese means lotus, a type of water lily. There are many shops which has been around for years and years in Furong Street and they add immeasurably to its charm. 

Yuqian Cheongsam Shop is one such shop. The Yuqian cheongsam - a traditional dress for women, also known as the qipao - originated in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and has been in existence for hundreds of years. This store mainly specializes in making the exquisite dresses for customers. In China, many women love to wear them and if you want to buy one as a gift for your girlfriend or wife, it would be a great idea to go there.
