Feckless 是一个与常见单词 reckless 容易相混淆的单词。通过该词后半部分的 less 不难猜到 feckless 指的是缺乏 feck ，但紧接着就会奇怪 feck 又是什么呢？
其实， feck 是苏格兰语，变体自古英语 effect 。因而 feckless 的本义也就是“无效的、无益的”，对应 without effect 或者说 ineffective 。
