The Universe Seeks Peace (and other three poems)
The Universe is silent
Listening to the music of spheres
The Universe is a grand audience
And patient one.
The Soul is so deep
Deeper than we can even imagine
It lives deep within the Universe
In the most beautiful corner of that giant body.
The Universe seeks peace
The Universe seeks harmony
So why don’t you seek the same,
Man?
What is stopping you
From letting your soul be free?
And become one with the Universe
To live in peace and harmony.
Freedom is not just a word
It is a state of mind
Love is not just a word
It is the opportunity to share
Goodness is not just a word
It is the ability to be human
Peace is not just a word
It’s the right path of life.

When Lyssa,
The Daughter of Nyx
Opens her giant mouth
She can swallow
The whole world.
Filled with rage
This Greek Goddess
Hosts the spirits
Of insanity.
So, are we still living
In the ancient times?
Didn’t we overcome mythologies?
Where is the sanity of modern man?
It’s hidden somewhere between the
Madness of his ego
And the fake self-esteem.

The figure of Athenian tragedy
Tricked us all
She brought the madness
As torch to light up the dark tunnels
Of our own rage and stupidity.

This world is on the edge
Of an abyss
Of hatred and inhumanity
The power of goodness is weakened
Steps are leaving no traces
Voices cannot be heard
Hearts cannot beat properly.
It’s high time to wake up
From this frightening nightmare
To open our wings
And fly into the freedom.
The cage is too tight.
Mankind is like a bird
That reigns the sky
In joyful flocks.
Without freedom
Man is chained
His mind is poisoned
By evil thoughts.
It’s high time to win the battle
It’s high time to run away
From that abyss.
Conquering Freedom
The clock is ticking.
We are running out of time.
Hours, minutes and seconds
Are melting from the fire of life.
Clock hands are hanging
Exhausted from the battles.
We must forge a new sword
Made of pure light,
To use it as a lantern
Or torch which will show us the right way
While we dance like shamans
Or ecstatic performers
On the dark stage of the brave new world
While conquering our freedom.

尼克斯之女，
她张开深渊巨口，

整个世界。

About the author
Ana Stjelja was born 1982 in Belgrade (Serbia). In 2005 she graduated from the Faculty of Philology from the Turkish Language and Literature Department. In 2009 she earned a Master’s degree in Sufism. In 2012 she obtained her PhD in Serbian Literature (with the thesis on the life and work of one of the first Serbian women writers and world travelers Jelena J. Dimitrijevic).
She is an award-winning Serbian poet, writer, translator, journalist, independent scientific researcher and editor. She published more than 30 books of different literary genres. She is the author of numerous research papers and essays on literature, feminism and diverse cultures.
She is the Editor-in-Chief of the Alia Mundi Magazine for cultural diversity, the online literary magazine Enheduana (and its blog Enheduana’s Literary Garden), the online magazine for satire Oximoron and the online magazine for poets and poetry in English Poetryzine. She is also the founder and the editor of the Web Portals: Eastern Pearl (and its blog Ibisʼ blog) dedicated to the literature, art and culture of the East, Maštoplet (and its blog Maštoplet’s blog) dedicated to children and children’s creativity. She is the founder and the editor-in-chief of Cultural Newspapers.
As an acclaimed and awarded writer, she has published her works in various Serbian and international print and online magazines, literary blogs and portals. She is the regular collaborator of The Poet Magazine (England) conducting the interviews with world poets. Also, she is the Advisor of several Chinese magazines and Asia and Europe Direction Editor of the Humanity Magazine.
In 2018 she established the Association Alia Mundi for promoting cultural diversity. She is a member of the Association of Writers of Serbia, the Association of Literary Translators of Serbia, the Association of Journalists of Serbia and the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) .
In 2021, she successfully completed the creative workshop Awake Not Sleeping - Reimagining Fairy Tales for a new generation organized by UN WOMEN for Europe and Central Asia (UN WOMEN ECA). In July 2022, she successfully completed the Introduction to Psychology course at the American Yale University, where her lecturer was the university professor and world-famous (Canadian-American) psychologist Paul Bloom. She lives in Belgrade.
