# BACKGROUND

# ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT

Systematic Observations Financing Facility (SOFF) Infrastructure Department

# DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the Director of the SOFF Secretariat and the SOFF team on its activities:

Collect and consolidate background information required for the implementation of SOFF communication, operational and fundraising activities
Support preparation of communication material, presentations and briefings to SOFF team and external partners
Support the preparation of SOFF-related meetings, events and other type of engagements with external partners
Provide overall support to SOFF operational and institutional activities as needed

# QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Undergrad or master's degree in the field of environmental and natural resource sciences and management, climate change, international relations, and policy.

Experience

No specific experience required. Experience working in areas related to the SOFF and WMO and its Members is an asset.

Other requirements

Broad understanding, capacity to conduct research and analysis on scientific, economic, social, and political dimensions of climate change.
Proven ability to function as a team player, to work across institutional boundaries, and to collaborate with other entities.
Experience with social media platforms, working with websites (no coding, simple updates) and design tools such as Canva (making graphics etc) is a plus.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and other web-based analytical and communication tools.

Languages

Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of Arabic, French, Spanish, and/or other United Nations official languages would also be an advantage.
