一、课文原文
Lesson 11 One good turn deserves another
I was having dinner at a restaurant when Tony Steele came in. Tony worked in a lawyer's office years ago, but he is now working at a bank. He gets a good salary, but he always borrows money from his friends and never pays it back. Tony saw me and came and sat at the same table. He has never borrowed money from me. While he was eating, I asked him to lend me twenty pounds. To my surprise, he gave me the money immediately. 'I have never borrowed any money from you,' Tony said, 'so now you can pay for my dinner!'

二、重点句型或语法
本课侧重动词不定式作宾语补足语的用法。
由动词跟一个由“ 名词(代词)+不定式 ” 构成,也称复合宾语。
例如:
I asked him to lend me twenty pounds. 我提出向他借20英镑。
又如:
Frank helped Tom to dig this hole.
弗兰克帮助汤姆挖了这个洞。
I expected him to arrive on Saturday.
我估计他星期六达到。
They persuaded him to give up smoking.
他们劝他戒了烟。
常见的这类单词有:advise, allow, ask, encourage, invite, order, request, teach, tell, urge, want 等。
如果要表示否定,直接在不定式前加not,例如:
Paul told Sue not to wait for him.
保罗告诉苏不用等他了。
有些动词则由不带to的不定式构成宾语补足语,例如:
I heard her lock the door.
我听见她锁门了。
She won’t let me do it.
她不让我做这事。
类似的动词有 see, hear, make, let, watch, notice, feel等。当变成被动结构时,不定式前要加to. 例如:
She was often heard to sing this song.
人们常常听见她唱这首歌。
