Lignin-based porous carbon (LPC) with layered graphene-like structure was synthesized. LPC exhibited excellent adsorption performances for removal of Pb(II) and Cd(II). Factors affecting the Pb(II) and Cd(II) removal by LPC were examined in details. Recyclability, adsorption isotherms and kinetics of LPC were investigated.
