感恩节 | 致敬上世纪中期伟大的爵士泰斗
Giving Thanks: The Great Midcentury Jazz Composers
去年的感恩节，BNCJO向伟大的爵士传奇Duke Ellington致敬。今年我们将继续借着感恩节的机会，致敬上世纪中期在不同风格的爵士乐中做出伟大的贡献作曲家。上世纪40年代至50年代，伟大的的爵士乐代表人物有：Thelonious Monk、Dizzy Gillespie、 Benny Golson等；而在爵士语言变得更加抽象与表现主义的动荡60年代，爵士乐也从流行音乐变成时尚、地下的艺术音乐，在这个时期我们更要致敬John Coltrane、Wayne Shorter、Herbie Hancock和Chick Corea等艺术家做出的贡献，正是因为他们的远见才为当今及未来的爵士铺平了道路。
Having paid tribute to the legendary Duke Ellington last Thanksgiving, the Blue Note China Jazz Orchestra will take the opportunity this Thanksgiving to highlight the diverse contributions of a range of jazz composers in a variety of styles, from bebop to postbop. Beginning with key musical architects of the ’40s and ’50s, including Thelonious Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, and Benny Golson, this November’s program will also survey the compositional advances made in the tumultuous ’60s in America, when the language of jazz became more abstract and expressionist and transformed from a popular music to a hip, underground art music. Although most of the postbop era’s key performances were originally done in the small-group format, we look forward to rendering these classic works with the rich orchestrational possibilities of the big band and paying tribute to jazz icons such as John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, and Chick Corea. In doing so, we give thanks to these visionary musicians who paved the way for the jazz of 2019 and beyond.

The Blue Note China Jazz Orchestra（Blue Note China爵士大乐队）汇集了中国最优秀的爵士音乐家，是目前中国最专业的爵士大乐团之一，演奏曲目覆盖来自爵士乐历史与当代作曲家的传统和现代作品。自2018年8月起，Blue Note China Jazz Orchestra由旅美萨克斯演奏家孙凯（Kevin Sun）担任音乐总监。
