“内塔尼亚是个武汉伢！”内塔尼亚的父亲、湖北大学生科院教师乔纳森说道，女儿在武汉出生，得到了很多中国朋友的帮助，她从小接触中国文化，将来一定是印中友好的使者。

"Netanya is a child of Wuhan," said Netanya’s father Jonathan Nimal, a foreign teacher of School of Life Sciences in the Hubei University. Born in Wuhan, Netanya has been exposed to Chinese culture since childhood, witnessing the friendship between China and India.

乔纳森是生物技术专业博士，曾在韩国江原大学和中国农科院农产品加工研究所任博士后研究员，2016年被湖北大学作为人才引进，主要为本科生和研究生讲授生物学、药理学、学习和记忆技能课。

Jonathan, hailing from India, has obtained a doctorate degree in Biotechnology, and has been a post doctoral fellow at the Institute of Agro-products Processing Science & Technology in China and Kangwon National University in South Korea. His classes in the Hubei University mainly involve in teaching Biological English, Pharmaceutical English as well as Advanced English for Researchers including critical thinking, brain skills and creative mind, etc.

回忆结缘武汉的故事，乔纳森笑着说：“2015年，我来武汉参加学生的婚礼，对这里的气候印象深刻，一直很向往。后来，得知湖北大学需要外籍教师，我就把简历寄了过来。两周后，他们通知我来面试，面试后，我就被录用了。”

"In 2015, I came to Wuhan for my student’s wedding, which impressed me a lot,” said Jonathan, “So I sent my resume immediately when I knew Hubei University wanted foreign teachers. Two weeks later, they informed me for an interview. Then I got this job."

同学们都很喜欢乔纳森老师的课。这位印度教师深谙“因材施教”之道。开课之初，乔纳森布置给同学们一项特殊的作业：用英文写下自己童年印象深刻的事。接下来的每节课课间，他都会找一两个同学交流，根据童年经历分析他们的性格成因，对学习生活、思考问题的方式给出建议。“我不太会跟同学沟通，老师帮我分析原因，鼓励我更加自信和主动。”生物工程专业大二学生张诗超说道。

Jonathan’s classes are popular with students for his individualized teaching method. At the beginning of a new class, he has a special assignment for students: write down their impressions of childhood in English. During breaks between classes, he communicates with students to analyze causes for personality based on their childhood experiences, and gives advice on studying and living. "I don't know how to communicate with my classmates. Jonathan helps me analyze the reasons and encourages me to be more confident and active," said Zhang Shichao, a sophomore student in bio-engineering major.

在武汉定居近3年，除了生活环境，乔纳森更满意的是武汉热情开放的人文环境。

2017年5月，内塔尼亚在省妇幼保健院呱呱坠地，初为人父的乔纳森一度很忙乱。好在有同事、学生和陌生人的倾力相助，帮助他的妻子薇妮顺利生产，让他渡过难关。

出院不久，内塔尼亚患重感冒，乔纳森的学生们轮流在家里照料，日夜守在宝宝身边。“太多太多的故事，让我在异国他乡感到家一般的温暖。”乔纳森认为，“这是湖北文化开放包容的体现，我深深爱上了这里。”

During the three years in Wuhan, Jonathan really enjoys the harmonious cultural environment here.

Jonathan’s wife Vini gave birth to Netanya in May 2017. He got much help from colleagues, students and even strangers. After the birth, Netanya suffered from a bad cold. Jonathan’s students took turns to take care of the baby day and night. "Too many stories make me feel at home in a foreign country," he said, "This is the embodiment of Hubei's open and inclusive culture. I love Wuhan."

在乔纳森一家的带动下，2017年9月，薇妮的堂妹沙伦也申请到了武汉大学医学部的学习机会，从印度新德里来到武汉，攻读硕士研究生。“湖北在激光治疗皮肤损伤方面的先进技术，让我大开眼界。我很庆幸能有这样的人生经历。”沙伦说。

In September 2017, Vini’s cousin Sharon also came to Wuhan for a master's degree at the Wuhan University School of Medicine. “Hubei’s advanced technology in laser treatment of skin damage has broadened my horizon. And I am very fortunate to have such a life experience,” said Sharon.

“其实，我有两个中国女儿。”乔纳森指着微信照片介绍道，“我在北京工作时，和福利院里的一名中国孤儿结对，我一直把她当作我的大女儿。她姓肖，所以我给内塔尼亚取的中文名字叫肖潇，希望她们成为好姐妹……”

"Actually, I have two Chinese daughters,” said Jonathan, "When I worked in Beijing, I aided a Chinese orphan in the welfare home. I always regard her as my eldest daughter. Her first name is Xiao（肖）, so Netanya’s Chinese name is Xiao Xiao（肖潇）. I hope they become good sisters."
