武汉军运会 湖北欢迎您 Hubei, a new stage to embrace world

The 7th CISM Military World Games will kick off in Wuhan from Oct. 18 to 27. Hubei is ready to welcome thousands of people around the world to celebrate the grand event.

Wuhan, known as "a city of a hundred lakes," embraces mountains and rivers. Stunning venues give the city a wow factor.

This is one of China’s most important international sports events this year, featuring around 10,000 athletes from 100 countries, 230,000 volunteers and 35 competition venues.

This is the first time in the history of Military World Games that all competition events have been organized by a single city.

 Landscape



Hubei lies in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, and north of the Dongting Lake.


When it comes to "Great Beauty of Hubei", mountains and rivers are inevitable choices.

200 million years ago, Shennong Ding (Shennong's Peak) became the birthplace of central China’s highest point at an altitude of 3,105 meters, after the severe fold of the Shennongjia Mountains.



The mysterious line of 30 degrees north latitude runs through the civilization of the Emperor Yandi, a legendary ancestor of the Chinese nation, as well as harmonious coexistence of golden monkeys, giant salamanders and human beings.

Hubei is a home to wonders, which can be seen in Shennong Ding (nicknamed “the Roof of Central China”), Golden Peak of Wudang Mountains, Qingjiang Gallery and Enshi Grand Canyon.

The Yangtze River rushes from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau to take shape of the 193-kilometer-long Three Gorges.


Every minute, 800,000 cubic meters of the Yangtze River flows eastward through the Three Gorges Reservoir.

Every minute, 13,200 cubic meters of the Han River pours out from Danjiangkou Reservoir.


Over the past 4 years, Beijing, capital of China, has received 4 billion cubic meters of the south water from Danjiangkou Reservoir, which has benefited more than 12 million residents.

Brilliant 

Culture


Ancient human life in Hubei could be traced back to two million years ago.


In the Neolithic Age, the Jianghan Plain witnessed flourishing population.


Emperor Yan  


According to historical records, Yan Emperor, the first ancestor of the Chinese people,created the Chinese farming civilization. His hometown is in Suizhou city of the province.


Bronze Broadax


Hubei’s ancestors used bronze smelting, bamboo lacquer, silk embroidery to create the magnificent Chu Culture.


Chime bells of Marquis Yi, was unearthed in 1987 in Suizhou.


Hubei witnessed profound Three Kingdoms culture as many popular Three Kingdoms stories happened in Xiangyang and Jingzhou of the province.

Ming Xianling Tomb,built in 1519 and completed in 1540 for Zhu Youyuan, is much larger than Ming Tombs.

The Great Tea Road departed from Hubei to Europe at the end of the 17th century.


Over a hundred years ago, the first shot to end China’s feudal monarchy was triggered in Wuchang.

Food &Transportation



Hot and spicy crayfish is the most popular dish in Hubei.



Over half of China's crayfish is produced in Hubei. When friends gather at sidewalk snack booths in summer, it becomes communal eating with a fun atmosphere.

Hubei cuisine, or Chu cuisine, has been listed as top 10 most famous cuisines in China.







Hubei snacks are also popular as guests around the world will love hot dry noodles, Xiaogan Rice Beverage and spicy-braised duck neck.

38 bridges (both completed and under construction) are on the Hubei section of the Yangtze River. A Yangtze River Bridge is built every 30 kilometers on average.
