We see many victims talking online about involving in FaceTime scams lately. They just pick up FaceTime call of unknown email number. However, this move causes a series of troubles afterward.

What will happen when picking up the call?
Nothing you can see except for your own image on the upper right corner. However, it's not a simple FaceTime called by mistakes, it's utterly a scam and you already leak out personal information at the moment picking up the call.

How the scam work?
Scammers randomly give FaceTime call to Apple users, when you pick up the phone, your Apple ID gets exposed. If you watch the screen, your face image has been caught.

What is the direct negative effect?
The direct negative effect will be the loss of Apple ID. Though scammers don't know the password of your Apple ID, they can use "Testing for User Enumeration and Guessable User Account (OWASP-AT-002)" to get the password.
OWASP-AT-002 is widely used by the hacker to steal accounts information, it plays out ESPECIALLY for hacking those accounts with simple passwords. Through this way, scammers can change the related email of you Apple ID.
At the meanwhile, your email and bank card which connect to Apple ID also will be hacked.

What will come after losing Apple ID?
1. Your phone becomes a brick
By changing the password of your phone, scammers can ask for a ransom to unlock your brick Apple.
2. Alipay and bank card information are leaked
I think many people install Alipay on phone nowadays. Your face got exposed in Facetime, the scammer can hack your Alipay and connected banks cards through facial recognition.
Facial recognition seems to can do anything in China now, withdrawing money, making a payment, etc. So, if you install any apps on phone can be logged in by scanning face, it won't be surprised that information gets leaked by using facial recognition, much worse, they can even create fake IDs.

What to do?
Don't pick up any unknown FaceTime call!
However, if you are reading this article and realize that it would be too late. No worries, mark down these steps, it stops being worse when personal information is already leaked out.
Temporarily disable FaceTime function.
Change a complex password of your email which related to Apple ID.
