WEEC2024 Day 2丨Deepening Dialogues and Expanding Horizons

第十二届世界环境教育大会于2024年1月29日至2月2日在阿布扎比召开，主题是“连接人们，创造明天”(“Connecting People, Creating Tomorrow.”)，世界环境教育大会（WEEC）是一个致力于环境和可持续发展教育的国际大会。大会旨在探讨如何通过环境教育应对气候变化、污染、生物多样性丧失等全球环境挑战，以及如何鼓励跨国界、跨文化和跨世代的协作。会议不仅限于传统的学术和实践交流，也鼓励采取创新形式，如艺术表演和互动活动，以丰富教育内容和参与体验。

As the second day of the 12th World Environmental Education Congress (WEEC2024) draws to a close, we take a moment to look back on a day characterised by deepened dialogues, expanded horizons and the continual strengthening of our global Environmental Education community.
Today at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), we witnessed an array of sessions and discussions that not only built upon the foundations set on Day 1 but also pushed the boundaries of conventional thinking in Environmental Education. From thought-provoking plenaries to hands-on workshops, the day was a testament to the dedication and innovation of environmental educators and professionals worldwide.
Plenary 3: Uniting the World for Sustainability: Championing EE and ESD
As Day 2 unfolded at WEEC2024, we aligned our focus with 'The Goals' theme, commencing with the dynamic third Plenary: 'Uniting the World for Sustainability: Championing EE and ESD.' Guided by the visionary perspectives of Mirian Vileda, Eureta Rosenberg and Akpezi Ogbuigwe, we have collectively navigated a path towards sustainable objectives.
Plenary 4: Ethics, Emotions, and Aesthetics: Building the emotional Compass of EE and ESD
Lalla Nouzha Alaoui, Nujoom Al Ghanem and Rohan Chakravarty led a powerful exploration of how art and aesthetics shaped the emotional compass of Environmental Education (EE) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). From poetry to film and visual art, the Plenary considered how these mediums fostered an emotional connection and instilled values in harmony with nature and society.
